Position Highlights The Bureau of Applied Research in Anthropology is seeking a research professional to work with Dr. Diane Austin, Mr. Kevin Bulletts, and BARA research staff to help design and carry out interviews, focus groups, and ethnographic research; process and analyze qualitative and quantitative data, including the transcription of digital recordings; maintaining project databases; and prepare written reports, oral presentations, and other products to inform tribal and federal policies and practices related to cultural heritage preservation and revitalization.
The employee must be able to work collaboratively in a multi-person, demanding environment whether office-, lab- or field-based. Strong interpersonal and observation skills are essential. Familiarity with basic ethnographic research approaches is important. Ability to work independently following appropriate guidance is also essential.

Duties & Responsibilities The Bureau of Applied Research in Anthropology is seeking a research professional to work with Dr. Diane Austin, Mr. Kevin Bulletts, and BARA research staff to help design and carry out interviews, focus groups, and ethnographic research; process and analyze qualitative and quantitative data, including the transcription of digital recordings; maintaining project databases; and prepare written reports, oral presentations, and other products to inform tribal and federal policies and practices related to cultural heritage preservation and revitalization. The successful candidate will work on projects for the Southern Paiute Consortium and National Park Service, as well as other projects requiring assistance with data analysis.
Duties and responsibilities include:
Design and conduct ethnographic fieldwork (participant observation, interviews, and focus groups) in rural and park settings, including wilderness areas. Requires hiking, rafting, camping outdoors in extreme heat. Transcribe digital recordings of meetings, focus groups, and interviews. Process and analyze qualitative and quantitative data, including coding of transcriptions, interview notes, and field notes. Develop and maintain project databases. Prepare written reports, oral presentations, and other products . Facilitate communication among project partners and BARA researchers and interns, including note taking at team meetings. Help maintain project websites. Minimum Qualifications Bachelor's degree or equivalent advanced learning attained through experience required. One (1) year of relevant work experience required.
