Job Description

We're seeking a Residential College Program Coordinator to join the Living-Learning Programs team in Blacksburg, VA to help us in our mission. The Program Coordinator serves alongside a live-in faculty principal and plays a critical role in ensuring that peer, administrative, and faculty relationships are cultivated and sustained throughout a residential college/living learning program. This person cultivates relationships among faculty and students to ensure students are engaged, supported, and thriving.

Virginia Tech is home to three residential colleges: the Honors Residential Commons, Leadership and Social Change Residential College, and Residential College at West Ambler Johnston. In Fall 2021, we opened the Creativity & Innovation District Living Learning Community, which merges elements of the residential college and living-learning community models – a first of its kind nationally. Our current opening is for the Residential College at West Ambler Johnston

Here's what you need to know about the role:

1) You'll join the Office of Living-Learning Programs team; a department that works to support intentional living-learning programs efforts for more than 5000 students.

2) You'll report to an Assistant Director or Associate Director in a Regular twelve-month, 100% Administrative Professional appointment.

3) This position lives in the residential college (in a 2-bedroom apartment). It assists the faculty principal (a live-in faculty member charged with providing direction to the college), to ensure their programmatic efforts enhance the intellectual climate of the college; focus on individual student engagement and support through connection to campus resources; supervise a select group of student leaders to increase student connection and engagement with the residential college. This will include some evening or weekend responsibilities. Other duties may include direct collaboration to achieve the vision, mission, and strategic goals of Living-Learning Programs.

4) You'll have the chance to grow and take advantage of a developmental plan with opportunities to advance within the Department and the Division.

5) You'll be offered a base compensation package ranging from $42,000 to $46,000 with a comprehensive benefits package that includes health insurance, paid leave, retirement, tuition assistance, VT discounts, and so much more.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree and relevant full-time experience
• Articulated commitment to student engagement and success
• Demonstrate ability to work with a diverse student body and foster sensitivity to diversity issues in the University community

• Master's Degree
• Experience working with students in college/university setting
• Experience working with faculty in a variety of settings
• Experience with training and teaching

- The selected candidate must have a criminal background check and a driver's check showing an acceptable and safe driving record

-The work schedule is Monday-Friday from 8 am to 5 pm with some nights and weekend commitments.

-This position is considered Emergency Personnel. Emergency personnel are those employees, salaried or waged, assigned to positions identified by their departments as necessary to maintain the vital operations and services of the university. Emergency personnel are required to work during an authorized closing.
