The OPPORTUNITY: Leverage your experience and join our growing team as the Risk Capital Manager, which plays a critical role in the company's risk management strategy by leading the reinsurance placement process, conducting capital management and analysis, and evaluating alternative capital deployment strategies. The Risk Capital Manager utilizes strategic thinking with a deep understanding of risk capital, reinsurance markets, and capital structure optimization. They also bring expertise in managing the company's capital base, ensuring adequate risk transfer mechanisms are in place, and optimizing capital efficiency while balancing risk and return. Because the success of our company is rooted in teamwork, the way we care about the people we work with and serve, this hybrid role will work in our Raleigh office a minimum of two days with the flexibility to work from home the remaining three days. Your WORK as the Risk Capital Manager will make a difference as you:?? Analyze reinsurance market trends to ensure that reinsurance strategies are competitive and aligned with the company's risk profile. Lead the placement of reinsurance programs by working with reinsurers, brokers, underwriters, and third-party vendors, to structure and negotiate terms that effectively manage the company's risk exposure, while ensuring smooth collaboration with all parties. Conduct in-depth analysis of reinsurance programs, including catastrophe modeling and risk assessments, to identify coverage gaps and areas for improvement.Oversee the company's capital management strategies, including monitoring regulatory capital requirements, liquidity, and overall capital efficiency.Conduct regular capital adequacy assessments, scenario analysis, and stress testing to ensure sufficient capital is available to support operations and growth.Develop capital optimization strategies, balancing risk transfer, reserve levels, and available capital to enhance financial flexibility.Identify, evaluate, and implement innovative capital strategies and alternative revenue streams, such as assumed reinsurance, mergers and acquisitions (M&A), new lines of business, catastrophe bonds and insurance-linked securities (ILS) to diversify risk and enhance capital efficiency.Monitor the performance of alternative capital programs and assess their effectiveness in achieving risk mitigation and capital optimization goals.Use advanced analytics and modeling techniques to ensure the company's risk profile is well understood and appropriately managed, reporting these findings to senior management.Support decision-making around capital allocation, product pricing, and strategic growth initiatives through data-driven insights.Collaborate with internal teams and external partners to ensure the capital management and reinsurance strategies align with regulatory requirements and the company's broader risk management and business objectives. SKILLS to get the JOB done RIGHT: Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Risk Management, or a related field. An MBA, CFA, or actuarial qualification is a plus.5+ years of experience in risk management, capital management, reinsurance, or a related field within the property and casualty insurance industry.Strong understanding of reinsurance markets, capital management, and alternative capital products (e.g., catastrophe bonds, insurance-linked securities, surplus notes, etc.).Advanced analytical skills, including proficiency in risk modeling, capital adequacy assessments, and financial analysis.Knowledge of regulatory capital requirements (e.g., Solvency II, NAIC), insurance company capital structures, and financial reporting.Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to explain complex financial and risk concepts to senior stakeholders.Strong negotiation and relationship management skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with internal and external partners.Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, financial modeling software, and risk management tools.
