DescriptionSummary: Responsible for the pulmonary care of critical, non-critical, and chronically ill adult, pediatric, and neonatal patients under the direction of a physician with minimal supervision. Performs patient assessments and institutes respiratory care plans. Performs various technical and diagnostic respiratory therapy procedures in all areas of the hospital. Responsibilities: Meets expectations of the applicable OneCHRISTUS Competencies: Leader of Self, Leader of Others, or Leader of Leaders. Include, but are not limited to: Emergency (Code Blue and White) responseAirway management including nasotracheal & endotracheal suctioningDelivery of aerosolized drugsVentilator management (i. e. setup and operation)Oral hygieneAirway retaining device placement and maintenanceAirway support device management including BiPAP and CPAP devicesOxygen delivery devices and therapeutic monitoringChest film analysisBloodgas collection and analysisEKG analysisAccurate and complete documentationCleaning and stocking of equipment and supplies as necessaryParticipate in CAP and JC surveys. RRTs may function as Shift Leader or serve in the capacity of Team Leader Advanced practice skills may include: Therapeutic gas management and monitoring, including INO and HeO2Pulmonary Function TestingBronchoscopy assistHemodynamic MonitoringWaveform analysisNocturnal SpO2 evaluation (Desaturation Studies)PolysomnographyTransport duties.
