We are seeking experienced backend developers who are passionate about their craft and are seeking an opportunity to work with a very driven and focused team who create and build truly great eCommerce solutions. As a Backend Ruby Developer, you will play a key role in the implementation of our various online platforms. You will collaborate daily with product owners, user experience designers, architects and be part of a passionate agile engineering team creating compelling, new and innovative software. This position is based in our River North Loft.
Responsibilities: Participate in and lead design sessions with fellow programmers and team members Lead design reviews and provide input to the design recommendations; incorporate security requirements into design; and provide input to information/data flow, and understand and comply to Project Life Cycle Methodology in all planning steps. Adhere to IT Control Policies throughout design, development and testing and incorporate Corporate Architectural Standards into application design specifications. Document the detailed application specifications, translate technical requirements into programmed application modules and develop/enhance software application modules. Collaborate with fellow developers in design sessions ensuring that all solutions are aligned to pre-defined architectural specifications; identify/troubleshoot application code-related issues; and review and provide feedback to the final user documentation. Research, design, write, and test new software Develop enhancements for existing systems by analyzing and identifying areas for modification Create technical specifications and test plans Utilize the latest versions of Ruby and Rails to write quality code Modify and write programs, primarily using Ruby, with HTML, CSS, and JavaScript, using Agile development methodology Perform software quality assurance testing and participate in code reviews Qualifications: 5+ years web software development experience 1+ year experience with API development (Rest/GraphQL) technologies 3-5+ years Ruby development experience Background in unit and integration test development, TDD/BDD a plus Experience with software revision control systems (Git preferred) Excellent problem solving, task prioritization, and communication skills Experience with Agile development methodologies Experience with Linux and shell environments Must be a citizen or legal resident of the U.S. or hold a Visa that allows you to work in the U.S. without being sponsored.
