The American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA), the national not-for-profit association established in 1863 & representing over 105,000 veterinarians working in private & corporate practice, government, industry, academia, & uniformed services, is seeking a Scholarships & Grants Manager to join the team of AVMA's charitable arm – the American Veterinary Medical Foundation (AVMF).
Established in 1963 & headquartered in Schaumburg, IL, a northwest suburb of Chicago, the AVMF is a thriving Foundation dedicated to increasing charitable resources for the support of the veterinary profession & those that love & care for animals & has strategically positioned itself as a national charitable resource & priority for the support of the veterinary profession, veterinary students, & the care of animals.
Reporting directly to the Assistant Director, Programs & Operations, the Scholarships & Grants Manager is responsible for the ongoing management of grant, scholarship, & award programs for the AVMF. Other key responsibilities include meeting logistics for governance entities & providing the highest level of customer service to volunteer leadership.  Also responsible for working with databases including Raisers' Edge.
To be successful in this role, you must be highly collaborative & passionate about AVMF's mission, additional qualifications include:

  BS/BA degree required, with 3-5 years of related experience in a not-for-profit &/or foundation/fundraising environment. Excellent verbal & written communication skills with the ability to interact effectively with volunteer leadership, donors, & staff throughout AVMA, as well as external vendors. Strong customer service skills with a positive can-do attitude. Excellent organizational skill with the ability to prioritize, multi-task, & meet multiple deadlines while ensuring a high quality of work. Excellent analytical, project management, & proofreading skills. Self-starter who is willing to take initiative. Team player who is open to assisting where needed & offer process improvements. Strong computer skills, particularly Excel & Word. Experience managing scholarships at an academic level preferred. Demonstrated knowledge & experience with Raisers' Edge preferred. Knowledge of RhythmQ software (or similar online application portal provider) preferred. Must exhibit AVMA's commitment to Diversity, Equity, & Inclusion in the execution of duties.
