Job Overview We are seeking a highly motivated Scientist with experience in microbiology testing, preferably antibacterial susceptibility testing. As part of the Microbiology team, you will be responsible for laboratory testing, documenting, and evaluating instruments and consumables to support the company's assay development, verification and validation activities. You will be responsible for executing on study protocols and documenting the data following GLP and GDP practices. As part of the Microbiology team, you will help build up toward the commercialization of Vitek Reveal Platform portfolio products.
Primary Duties: Perform microbiological testing to support ongoing study protocols, testing of instrumentation, antibiotic panels, and other consumables.Maintain thorough records of experiments and data in lab notebook or study data sheets or designated project folders, and follow Good Documentation Practices (GDP).Analyze generated data in a timely manner.Write or contribute to writing of lab work instructions, protocols, reports and other documents as needed.Prepare weekly reports to summarize activities and accomplishments clearly and concisely. Present findings periodically at internal meetings.Perform other microbiology testing procedures including but not limited to preparing bacterial stocks, cultures, and bacterial identification.Handle and dispose of biohazard material in compliance with OSHA and with Biosafety procedures, and maintain clean lab environment.Participate in routine lab maintenance and cleaning procedures as needed.Ensure compliance with all company policies and procedures and appropriate regulations, including FDA, ISO 13485, and bioMérieux Quality and PDP procedures.Perform other related duties as required.The job requires some knowledge and proficiency in standard microbiological methods such as dilution and enumeration of microorganisms, stocking frozen strains, isolation, and identification of pathogenic microorganisms, preparation and sterilization of culture media and aseptic techniques.
Knowledge and Skills: B.S. with 3+ years relevant experience or M.S. with 1+ years relevant experience in Microbiology, Biochemistry, and/or Medical Diagnostic or equivalent is required.Experience with the standard tools and methods of microbiology and aseptic techniques such as pipetting, plating, media preparation, bacterial culture, isolation, etc.Experience with bacterial susceptibility testing methods is greatly preferred.Knowledge of aseptic techniques, good documentation practices (GDP), and good laboratory practices (GLP).Minimum one year of laboratory bench experience preferably in a BSL2 environment; clinical microbiology laboratory experience is advantageous.Proficiency using Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).Strong focus and attention to detail, with the ability to prioritize accuracy while following best practices in a fast-paced industrial laboratory environment.Must be flexible and able to adapt to changes in task priority and able to work under time constraints.Good organizational skills, teamwork, and troubleshooting skills.Excellent communication skills and ability to work independently (after training) to complete assigned tasks.Knowledge of ISO 9001 and FDA Quality System Regulations is advantageous.
