This system-wide position is accountable to assist in providing a safe and secure environment of care for patients, visitors, and staff in compliance with Cone Health policies and the Joint Commission requirements. This position is also responsible to direct and assist with pedestrian and vehicular traffic on the campus.
Patrols assigned hospital areas and enforces applicable policies and procedures in order to maintain a safe and secure environment of care. Keeps the patient at the center of all decisions.

Responds to alarms and emergencies, and assists health care professionals with all routine requests in order to maintain a secure environment and to meet hospital safety standards. Provides exceptional service through courteous and professional interaction with patients, families and visitors. Appropriately intervenes when patients, families or visitors become agitated, aggressive or abusive.

Responds to and accurately documents all campus incidents, thefts and accidents. Also, records daily activities and accurately reports events to maintain a record of departmental activities.

Attends and completes all required Joint Commission, Cone Health and departmental training.

Performs daily lock and unlock of campus offices, rooms and buildings.

Provides motor vehicle assistance to staff and visitors (i.e. jumpstart vehicles, door unlocks, assist with flat tires and retrieve valeted cars.)

EDUCATION: High School Diploma or equivalent, Required
EXPERIENCE: Required - Six (6) months of security, military, law enforcement, fire fighting or EMS experience required. Work experience in a customer service industry may also be considered.
Preferred - Three (3) years of security, military, law enforcement, fire fighting or EMS experience preferred.
LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION/REGISTRY/LISTING: REQUIRED:
*Driver?s License | If driving Cone Health vehicle, must have three (3) years of driving experience and MVR must be approved by Risk Management
*Successfully pass a criminal history record verification
*Successfully complete STARR training (de-escalation) and BLS (CPR)-American Red Cross or AHA Healthcare Provider within 30 days of hire date.
