Segment Finance Director

Guidehouse is seeking candidates for a Segment Finance Director directly supporting our Health Segment. Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer, the Health Segment Finance Director will be responsible for managing the overall financial operations for the Segment consistent and in accordance with corporate policy. This is a hands-on role for someone with strong problem-solving skills. Serving as a leader within the Finance team, this position will also provide support for key projects, process improvements and efficiencies.
Responsibilities: Monthly accounting close and accuracy of Health segment and practice area financial results including Advisory, Digital and Managed Services practices in Commercial and Public Sectors.
Review revenue by client engagement for reasonableness and appropriate revenue recognition and explain variances.
Review utilization, bill rate, and employee headcount metrics and supporting details.
Analyze client engagement work-in-process and accounts receivable balances for collectability issues and propose reserves, if necessary.
Analyze and explain cost of service budget variances and trends by cost type.
Review results for various geographies performing within Health, including U.S., and India. Coordinate with local Finance representatives.
Consult with practice leaders, partners, and directors, as well as Finance colleagues, to better understand and communicate practice area performance.
Prepare or review journal entries as necessary for month end financials.
Present monthly metrics and tracking of business KPIs.
Coordinate with Project Finance lead on review and reporting of Public Sector financial results within Defense & Security Segment.
Present Segment and practice financial reports, handle financial communications and analyses to support business objectives and strategic plans.
Manage project level financial reporting and analysis including approval of discounts/write-offs.
Provide project pricing assistance and approvals.
Oversee the Segment and practice annual budget preparation.
Coordinate with segment and practice leaders on targets and build-up of annual budget.
Prepare budget presentations and supporting analyses for segment and corporate leadership.
Quarterly/periodic reforecasts of practice and segment expectations.
Evaluate Pipeline sufficiency to meet goals and work with practice area leaders to improve accuracy of forecasting.
Participation in practice area meetings to understand business operations and direction and to explain financial matters.
DSO improvement and resolution of billing and collections issues.
Compliance with internal controls and company policies.
Vendor and intercompany invoice approvals.
Collaboration with other Corporate Services departments.
Liaison between segment/practice leaders and Finance leaders.
Solution development to improve financial processes and operations.
What You Will Need: Bachelor's degree required / MBA preferred.
10+ years of finance and accounting experience in professional services.
5+ years in a financial management role required.
The ideal candidate should have a broad finance background including operational and technical accounting experience, including knowledge of all aspects of GAAP.
Strong analytical skills, including experience with creation, review and presentation of balance sheet review packages or other similar financial review packages.
Clear thinking and strong problem-solving skills with the ability to grasp new ideas quickly; take initiative to understand root causes of issues and development solutions; able to work independently; manage multiple tasks.
Excellent communication skills. Experience working across multiple levels (including executive level), functions and regions; able to clearly communicate complex financial information in an easy-to-understand manner; able to deliver messages effectively verbally and in writing.
Integrity: Accepting and adhering to high moral, ethical, and personal values in decisions, communications, and actions when dealing with others.
What Would Be Nice to Have: Proficiency at MS Office suite. software tools and highly skilled at Excel.
Proficiency with Oracle EPM Planning and reporting.
Expertise of Deltek (Costpoint and Deltek Time & Expense) and Financial Reporting tools such as Cognos, Power BI, and TM1 is preferred.
Expertise in Peoplesoft Financials.
Supporting financial decision makers.
Interacting with all levels of the organization, including internal and external constituencies.
Working independently and meeting hard deadlines.
MBA preferred.
CPA preferred.
The annual salary range for this position is $159,300.00-$238,900.00. Compensation decisions depend on a wide range of factors, including but not limited to skill sets, experience and training, security clearances, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs.
