The Opportunity We are looking for a driven, reliable Property Controller to join our team. We need an organized, detail-oriented individual who has a passionate for leading accounting teams and is able to communicate effectively and cross-functionally. In this role, you will manage a team of 5 international accountants who are performing full-cycle property accounting, while also managing a property portfolio. If you are a task-oriented leader who appreciates structure and detailed work, this role is for you.
This is NOT a remote position. This role requires the person select to work in the San Antonio, TX office, daily. What We Offer Annual Salary | $125,000 - $165,000

\n What You'll DoManage, develop, and take accountability for a geographically diverse team of 5 property accountantsGrow the property accounting team from 5 to 10 property accountants over the next 3 years Foster a positive, team-oriented work environmentConduct weekly team meetings and provide training and oversight to the broader accounting teamDevelop and maintain accounting principles to ensure all practices, procedures, and internal controls are accurate and up to date with GAAP standards Take direction well but exercise good, independent judgment when necessary Prepare timely and accurate monthly financial statements for assigned propertiesCommunicate with clientsReview general ledgers for accounts receivables and accounts payables to ensure accuracyReview and approve payment batches Manage 1099 tax reporting and complianceManage federal and state tax withholding requirements Filing and documenting historical recordsMonitor emerging technologies to automate accounting processes without compromising accuracy or accountability Complete end to end property management accounting including payables, receivables, bank reconciliations, move outs, offboards, etc Complete ad hoc projects as assigned What Qualifies YouBachelor's degree in Accounting or relevant accounting experience4+ years' experience managing a team of accountants6+ years' experience in property management accounting to include knowledge of GAAP accounting principles, standards, and regulationsAdvanced experience utilizing AppFolioExcellent written and verbal communication What Sets You ApartExperience in single family and multi-family property management accounting Organization and time management skills, and ability to meet deadlinesAttention to detail, problem-solving, and analytical skillsSelf-motivated and willing to put forth extra effort consistently
