Scope of the job: Supporting the Product Company to be an advanced manufacturing factory for Turbomolecular Pumps (TMP) in close collaboration with the technical authority Product Company Yachiyo, Japan. It is to develop and sustain the machining process capability and capacity on the relevant machining equipment. Contributing to continuous improvement of safety, product quality, internal lead time and costs of in-house machined parts.
This position will entail training in Japan for a duration of 3-6 months. This role will play an important part in setting up the new line in Chandler to ready it for production, helping with the transfer of knowledge from Japan and actively participating in the installation and commissioning phase of the project.
Main Responsibilities: Creates and changes CNC programs including machine program fine adjustments.Creates, processes and approves CAD data and tools for special Machining Manufacturing (Horizontal Machining Centres/High speed cutting and Millturn).Operating in scope machining centers to validate the CNC program, fixture, tooling for new machined parts during part qualification or capability tests of the machine.Creates, changes and approves technological procedures for manufacturing processes in scope (HMC, Millturn, CMM, Shotblasting and Washing) using existing business processes and systems (Engineering change, SAP, MAPICS, Permit).Proposes, specifies, tests and approves communal and special tools.Proposes and approves technical procedures for work quality improvements in machining processes (BPI, KAIZEN).Solves technological problems associated with machining processes in scope.Works in quality circles to fix process deviations, works on Fracas issues and fixing.Participates in technology transfers between Edwards sites or Edwards and 3rd parties.Is responsible for accurate BOMs and routings complying with machining shopfloor and for Machining shopfloor layout maintenance and their update.Participates in PFMEA and DFMEA.Utilizes LEAN, Six Sigma, QRQC, and other best practice tools and principles for day-to-day problem solving and continuous improvement.Cooperates/supports SME/SMEL (subject matter expert) during design, development and sourcing of tools, fixtures, gauges and special equipment for high precision manufacturing processes. Co-ordinates with internal and external partners.Cooperates with SME to keep layout updated due to impact from NPI and another projects.Delivers technical training to production operators in order to develop their skills.Collaborates with the Internal Audit team to perform annual schedule of quality system audits.Prepares implementation of corrective and preventive actions for solving customers complaints (QRQC and 8D's).Responsible for implementing Engineering Changes and permits, when it is required.Leads assignments relating to implementing new products.Prepares data for new investments specification and for creation of price list for new parts in cooperation with other relevant stakeholders in the organisation.Creates, updates and approves internal instruction documents for manufacturing. (SOP's, BOM's, Routings, etc.)Approves changes, instructions and procedures for special operations (sample approval, SAP).Actively participates in company projects and identification of possible cost optimization measures, improvement of machinery efficiency and productivity.Provides other employees with information needed for proper performance of their work, shares information and experience with other colleagues.Is responsible for Vacuum Technique Production System (VTPS-B) enhancement within designated area.Skills/Knowledge/Experience: Educational Level: Preferably Degree (Bachelor or above) in mechanical engineering or equivalent.Experience: Minimum of 5 years' experience in process development in a manufacturing environment is a must. Proven experience in a manufacturing/machining environment is highly preferable.Experience in CNC machining preferably on HMC and Millturn. Experience in programming CMM machines is a plus.Knowledge Area/Skills: Deep knowledge of Quality tools, Quality Management System and Lean Manufacturing is highly desirable.Proficient in Microsoft Office suite, orientation in modern IT structures and processes. SAP is highly desirable.Analytical and critical thinking, problem-solving attitude.Other Requirements: Strong interpersonal communication, excellent organizational competencies.Open minded person to implement new ideas and see opportunities for improvement.Willingness to spend time in Japan during training phase.Fluency in spoken and written English (B2).
