Job Summary: This position will manage land development, residential, industrial, retail, mixed-use, healthcare, educational and recreational project design teams and coordinate technical tasks including, but not limited to: conceptual site layout, utility design; roadway design; site grading design; storm drain design; storm water management design; water and sanitary sewer main design; soil erosion and sedimentation control design; floodplain studies; permitting and entitlement support; preparation of engineer's opinions of probable cost; preparation of proposals; and invoicing for engineering services.Accountability and Duties: Coordinates production of final construction drawings and specificationsPrepares and reviews engineer's opinions of probable costCoordinates permits and approvals for applicable municipal agenciesPrepares and reviews design calculationsPrepares proposals for engineering servicesEnsures proposal protocol is followedEnsures timesheets are submitted on timeDelegates specific project components to Project Managers, Project Engineers, and Staff Engineers for completionWorks closely with other disciplines on multi-discipline projectsResponsible for project schedules and timely completion of projects for self, team members, and subordinatesMaintains a good relationship with clientsParticipates in business development activities including: maintaining and expanding existing clients, and increasing service offerings as well as identifying new business opportunitiesProfessionally represents the firm at client & municipal meetings/hearingsPrepares and monitors project budgets, billing, and assists with A/RKeeps supervisor informed of workload and any changes in project scope or additional servicesProvides an accurate accounting of time spent on projects with descriptions for each time entry on a weekly basisMentors and assists with training of Project Engineers and Staff EngineersAssists with the evaluation and development of engineering staffRequired Certificates, Licenses, Registration: PE license required.Valid driver's license.Qualification Requirements: Registered professional engineer with ten years design experience in residential, commercial, or industrial land development projects.Education and/or Experience: Bachelor's degree in engineering from an accredited four-year college or universityRequired Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Excellent oral and technical written communication skills for client contactStrong sense of urgency and self-initiative to meet client deadlinesAbility to work independently and part of a teamAbility to organize and manage multiple projectsAbility to design/engineer moderately difficult engineering projectsAbility to make independent decisions within a general frameworkAvailable to work nights and weekends to complete a project as necessaryProficient in MS OfficeMust be fluent in the English languagePhysical Demands: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
