Scheduled Hours 40 Position Summary The focus of the Njoku Lab is to discover mechanisms associated with susceptibility to immune mediated hepatitis in all of its forms. The laboratory investigates the basis of sex differences in drug-induced, immune-mediated liver disease. The Njoku Lab has characterized the mechanisms by which cytokines, CD4+T cells, B cells and FoxP3+T cells contribute to this form of hepatitis, triggered by an epitope of cytochrome P450 2E1 using an in vivo mouse model. The Njoku Lab also investigates metabolic liver disease and its sequelae, specifically hormonal factors associated with fatty acid biosynthesis as well as uptake and distribution utilizing immunological, metabolic and genetic techniques.


Collaborates on designing, conducting and reporting of research projects. Job Description Primary Duties & Responsibilities Collaborates on designing, conducting and reporting of research projects. Prepares figures for manuscripts. Follows through on hypotheses that will be tested. May develops hypotheses to be tested and ways of testing it. Complies with established safety procedures and maintains required documentation on laboratory and specimen conditions. Assists with grant preparation and reporting. Performs other duties as assigned. Working Conditions Works in a laboratory environment with potential exposure to biological, chemical and radioactive hazards. Must be physically able to wear protective equipment and to provide standard care to research animals.
Preferred Qualifications Basic immunological techniques including cell culture, immunoassays, and sample prep for flow cytometry. Basic biochemical techniques including PCR and western blot analyses. Experience with breeding and maintaining mouse colonies. Experience with in vivo mouse experiments including immunizations. Open to learning new technologies and applications. Analytical reasoning and problem-solving skills. Demonstrated working knowledge of standard laboratory policies, procedures and equipment. Ability to communicate in oral and written form with all levels of personnel and technical publications. Ability to work well independently or as a team member. Required Qualifications PhD, M.D. or equivalent terminal degree and at least 3 years of postdoctoral experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience equaling 12 years.
Grade R12 Salary Range $62,200.00 - $112,700.00 / Annually
The salary range reflects base salaries paid for positions in a given job grade across the University. Individual rates within the range will be determined by factors including one's qualifications and performance, equity with others in the department, market rates for positions within the same grade and department budget.
