NIRA Inc., a fast-growing women-owned small business, is seeking a highly skilled Senior Systems Security Engineer to support a major Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) program. The ideal candidate will possess extensive experience in cybersecurity and a thorough understanding of aviation-related security requirements. In this role, you will be responsible for developing and implementing robust security measures to protect critical systems and data, ensuring compliance with FAA regulations and industry standards.
Major Responsibilities include: Provide inputs to the evaluation, review, and definition of security architectures and provide recommendations to ensure security compliance; Prepare and review security-related documentation for security authorization packages; Assess, evaluate and provide recommendations for proposed technologies impacts with respect to security architectures; Support in the development of security plans to ensure compliance with applicable security policies, analyze and report system and network security requirements to ensure validation of systems level solutions and alternatives; Analyze, distribute, track and reach closure on security bulletins, advisories, alerts, and data calls for systems, programs, and vendors; Support revision of security plans to ensure compliance with applicable security policies, analyze and report system and network security requirements to ensure validation of systems level solutions and alternatives; Provide information security expertise to assist with analysis, certification, and accreditation documentation for compliance with FAA and National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) standards; and Coordinate and support security audits and assist with the implementation of both short and long-term mitigation strategies and alternatives. Qualifications: Minimum of 15 years of relevant experience, with at least 3 years in a senior or lead security role. Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution in Information Sciences and Technology, Computer Science, Information Security, or a related field/discipline is required. Proven experience supporting federal programs, preferably within aviation or similar sectors. Expertise in security protocols, encryption, and network security. Ability to plan, coordinate, and prioritize assignments and workload, execute tasks, and meet deadlines; Excellent communication skills are required; Ability to work both independently and in a collaborative environment; Ability to obtain Public Trust Clearance; Local in the DMV area; Desired Knowledge/ Skills: Experience with security tools such as SIEM, IDS/IPS, and endpoint protection solutions. Experience with FAA-specific regulations and security frameworks.
