We're looking for a Senior UX Researcher to join our Research and Behavioral Science (Labs) team and help shape the future of our products. This role is critical in driving insights that guide the development of our evolving product ecosystem. You will play a pivotal role in refining user experiences for a manager population, shaping assessments, and enhancing AI-driven engagement loops that fuel high member growth and partner satisfaction.
What you'll do: Lead foundational, formative, and evaluative UX research studies to ensure our products stay aligned with evolving member and partner needs.Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to discover, design, and develop compelling and effective experiences in our new product, Manage, focusing on manager journeys, effectiveness assessments, and AI experiences.Provide deep, actionable insights into member behavior and partner expectations that will drive engagement and support market acceptance.Help shape our product strategy by driving value storytelling and refining member-facing assessments that link directly to partner success.Quickly and independently design research studies to help drive decision-making for product development (including vision, roadmaps, and execution), in partnership with designers, product managers, and engineers.Understand and incorporate complex technical and business requirements into research.Synthesize and communicate research findings to drive understanding and user empathy with product managers, designers, engineers, and other UXRs in a fast-paced, rapidly-changing environment.Use your expertise to teach your quantitative and qualitative methods to other members of the team.If you have some or all of the following, please apply: 3+ years of relevant industry (non-academic) experience as an applied researcher.Advanced degree (Master's or Ph.D.) in Human-Computer Interaction, Psychology, Statistics, Data Science, Behavioral Economics, Human-Centered Design, or a related field; or BA/BS and equivalent industry experience in a product-centric environment.Previous experience conducting AI-related research.Experience planning and conducting mid-to-large scale research projects across various product phases.Experience with mixed methods, and ideally with a focus on strategic and/or quantitative research.Demonstrable experience partnering with product management, engineering, design, data science, analytics, product marketing, and other product researchers.Ability to quickly tailor and design effective, appropriate research methodologies within time and resource constraints.Ability to create compelling presentations and confidently convey research insights through storytelling to technical and non-technical audiences.Experience influencing business and product decisions using research and data.Active learner, actively seeking to expand and share knowledge and experience in UX research to best support the evolving needs of the team.Enjoy working on entrepreneurial teams, and in Hybrid, fast-paced environments.Benefits: At BetterUp, we are committed to living out our mission every day and that starts with providing benefits that allow our employees to care for themselves, support their families, and give back to their community.

At BetterUp, we compensate our employees fairly for their work. Base salary is determined by job-related experience, education/training, residence location, as well as market indicators. The range below is representative of base salary only and does not include equity, sales bonus plans (when applicable) and benefits. This range may be modified in the future.
The base salary range for this role is $150,700 – $240,200.
If you live in New York, the base salary range for this role is:
$160,100 – $240,200: New York City
$150,700 – $226,100: Albany, Buffalo, Rochester, Nassau, Newburgh, Syracuse.
