Summary
A Speech Therapist's primary responsibility is to evaluate and diagnose speech, language, communication, or swallowing difficulties.
Your daily responsibilities will be to deliver direct care to patients while maintaining patient comfort and safety.
You'll also need to follow all departmental policies and procedures as well as safety, environmental, and infection control standards.
Responsibilities Provide speech therapy and rehabilitation services to patients at the facility Care about people and are committed to helping each patient make progress towards achieving the optimal outcome, given the circumstances of each case Assess, diagnose, and treat speech, language, communication, and swallowing disorders Recognize indications and contradictions to treatment, modify treatment programs, and be familiar with normal and abnormal patient responses Instruct patient/family as needed, adapt conventional speech therapy techniques to meet the needs of the patients Document concisely, accurately, and legibly all appropriate charting and paperwork Knowledge, Abilities, and Skills Knowledge of Medicaid, Medicare, and private insurance plans Familiarity with a variety of speech and cognitive disorders Strong interpersonal and communication skills Basic computer literacy Ability to comply with all regulatory standards Education and Experience Masters degree in speech language pathology or related field 1-3 years speech language pathology experience Active state SLP license ASHA certification preferred CPR certification
