Details of the offer

McKenney's has been going strong for more than seven decades. Our culture values people and ideas, and we work together to deliver the most innovative solutions to our customers. We help you grow in your career through training and support, and as an equal opportunity employer, we provide comprehensive benefits and give you a firm foundation for the future.
Overview
ACS Project Management Co-op
McKenney's Inc., voted one of Atlanta and Charlotte's BEST PLACES TO WORK, is seeking driven problem solvers who are interested in the building automation and controls industry. As an industry leading mechanical contractor, McKenney's Automation and Controls Solutions has specialized in building automation and controls throughout the greater Atlanta area for over 20 years. At McKenney's ACS our interns are an integral part of the success for our projects and the company, and we rely on and encourage their fresh ideas.
As an ACS team member, you will be part of a highly specialized group of controls professionals from day one and given training and tasks that are important and impactful to our projects' success. Interns work in a collaborative team environment under the leadership of the Project Managers and perform duties like an Assistant Project Manager while transforming the skyline and existing spaces throughout the Southeast.
The responsibilities and job skills learned are primarily dependent upon the individual's drive, determination, and ability to learn and function on a multi-disciplinary project team. A typical day can range from assisting with generating an estimate, coordinating scheduled activities at the project site, and/or helping to come up with engineering solutions. A successful intern will learn how to estimate projects and scopes of work, work directly with vendors to purchase material and equipment, and support Field Team Leaders and customer needs through scheduling and site logistics management. Experienced, successful interns will have the opportunity to run jobs from inception, through construction and final job closeout, under the guidance of their Project Manager.
Responsibilities
* You will work hand in hand with the Project Manager to manage controls projects from start to finish in the Greater Atlanta Area.
* You will coordinate with vendors to schedule and procure material and equipment purchases for the construction project.
* You will regularly update project cost expenditures for the project's budgets.
* You will plan with Project Managers and Field Team Leaders to hit major schedule milestones with the field teams onsite.
* You will regularly survey project sites for adherence to McKenney's safety, quality, and productivity values.
Requirements
WHAT ARE THE CRITERIA FOR A MCKENNEY'S COOP?
* Candidates must be able to complete 3 full-time, alternating co-op rotations in the office they are being hired for prior to their graduation.
* (Spring 2025, Fall 2025, Summer 2026) Students must be enrolled in a co-op program at an accredited engineering school majoring in Mechanical, Civil, or Industrial Engineering or Construction Management.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES, AND CHARACTERISTICS
* Self-motivated and team-orientated.
* Ability to use time productively.
* Must be a self-starter with ability to work well independently and as part of a team.
* Maintain a strong attention to detail.
* Ability to effectively communicate across a diverse group of people (PMs, drafting, field staff, fabrication shops, etc.).
Moving Safety Forward, our initiative for continuous improvements in our safety culture, reminds us that we are on a journey toward a zero-incident culture. In all we do, we must work to build a partnership with our employees, customers and business associates that empowers them all with the ability to do their jobs safely.
McKenney's is an Equal Opportunity Employer committed to workforce diversity. Qualified candidates will receive consideration without regard to age, color, religion, sexual orientation, disability, national origin, or gender identity. McKenney's is a smoke-free and drug-free workplace.
