Our MSD division designs, manufactures, and supports a wide range of high-performance microscopy workflows, delivering images and solutions at micro-, nano-, and picometer scales. The Sr Product Specialist will have combined expertise in electron, ion, and light microscopy equipment with deep application knowledge across materials science, life sciences, electronics, and natural resources, our global Electron Microscopy team is dedicated to supporting customers in their pursuit of discovery and addressing global challenges.
Location Specific Information: The ideal candidate must be based in Ohio with travel to customers sites.
A Day in the Life: + Support sales AM by delivering clear technical product presentations and demonstrations, showcasing application solutions, product accessories, and options from both Thermo Scientific and third-party vendors.
+ Drive business development efforts through workshops, campaigns, and tracking leads and opportunities in the Customer Relationship Management ( CRM ) system.
+ Accompany sales AM on customer visits to identify key application needs, decision criteria, strengths and weaknesses, and assist in product promotion at trade shows and technical conferences.
+ Capture detailed feedback from customers, prospects, and the sales force to suggest product configurations or enhancements, targeting specific markets or market segments.
+ Provide beta testing feedback to product/applications development staff for new hardware and software pre-releases.
+ Support the technical staff during applications development, to understand and articulate special customer requirements, initiating the non-standard request ( NSR ) process for internal execution to translate customer needs into products and features.
+ Handle iterations for NSR requirements between product managers, the factory, and customers.
+ Develop sales support materials including application notes, market matrices, product scorecards, and technical presentations.
+ Present technical papers at professional symposia and author technical articles for trade press, conferences, and workshops.
+ Keep salesforce updated on the latest product releases, application solutions, value propositions, and market insights.
+ Evaluate and document both internal and third-party accessories.
+ Lead and collaborate with demonstration lab staff to develop effective system demonstrations and specialized demonstration techniques.
+ Provide customer support and applications training post-sales cycle and after instrument installation.
+ Provide technical leadership for applications scientists, product specialist, sales, service, and marketing teams.
Keys to Success: Education: + University degree in Materials Science, Chemistry, or Physics; an advanced degree is preferred.
Experience: + 5+ years of directly using transmission electron microscopy ( TEM ).
+ Extensive experience with TEM systems and associated scientific applications.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: + Strong leadership and teamwork skills, with proven track record to collaborate across functions
+ Excellent communication, both written and verbal, with the ability to engage diverse audiences.
+ Strong interpersonal skills
+ Strong customer interfacing skills.
+ Travel domestically and internationally (up to 50%), with a valid passport
