ABOUT THE ROLE
The Staff Accountant is responsible for managing daily accounting tasks for multiple complex clients, primarily nonprofits, and works alongside a fast-paced team of accounting professionals. The work is fast-paced and client-centric (this person will typically close six clients each month), so adaptability is key.  This position offers extensive workplace flexibility – candidates have no mandatory in-office time required and are able to work remote living within the Pacific Standard Time Zone or Mountain Standard Time Zone.
WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING Review weekly bank reconciliations and cash position reports Perform month-end close procedures and prepare financial statements as needed Enter and post journal entries, record appropriate monthly accruals, reconcile inter-company accounts, and perform analysis and provide reasoning for variances Complete all grant compliance reports and budget-to-actual variance reports for assigned clients Record all inter-company transactions and transfers Communicate with client management regarding cash flow issues and potential courses of action Perform new client onboarding and training, and resolve inquiries from clients, governmental agencies and auditors Assist in special projects and year-end audit schedule preparation WHAT YOU NEED TO HAVE Bachelor's degree in accounting or related field. Master's degree is a plus A CPA license or CPA-eligibility is a plus At least 2 years of experience preparing financial statements (full close) Purposes, methods, and practices of financial and accounting record keeping Non-profit experience preferred and/or prior multi client expereince preferred Strong technical computer skills – proficiency in Microsoft Office suite and comfort learning software systems Excellent communication skills, both written and oral, to maintain strong relationships with both clients and internal staff
