Staff Accountant Cary, NC Hybrid - 3 days onsite Position Overview Be a part of a nonprofit organization dedicated to providing learning opportunities that equip and empower policymakers to drive equitable reforms. As the Staff Accountant, you will support the finance department's daily operations including billing, financial reporting, recordkeeping, and account management while maintaining general ledger activities in a dynamic, fast-paced environment. Responsibilities Ensure internal controls are maintained and provide documentation Prepare and record bills, receipts, revenue, and donations Generate monthly general ledger and compliance reports for directors, funders, leadership, and the board Enter approved program budgets and post journal entries in Sage Accounting before month-end close Provide materials for annual audits, tax returns, and related schedules Support the year-end audit process and conduct technical accounting research Develop a thorough understanding of business operations, financial systems, and general ledger structure Assist with budget schedules and special projects Qualifications Knowledge of GAAP, particularly as it applies to public sector financial administration Bachelor's degree with 2+ years of nonprofit finance/accounting experience preferred; 4+ years of relevant experience may substitute for a degree Familiarity with governmental budgeting principles and government accounting standards boards standards is preferred Proficient in budgeting processes and modern office technology Strong command of English usage, including spelling, grammar, and punctuation Occasional evenings and weekends may be required Compensation Salary: $53,759- $64,000 Health, Dental and Vision Insurance 401(k) plan with an employer matching contribution policy
