General Description
The Student Service Associate is an initial contact with student athletes seeking entry into the college seeking services.
The Associate will provide guidance and direction; therefore she/he must be fully familiar with every aspect of student services that a prospective or current student may utilize.
Characteristics, Duties, and Responsibilities
• Provides direction, process overview and information to students, parents, and others regarding: the College admission process, registration, financial aid, student account functions, College programs, activities, and student services.
Provides referrals to other College departments as needed.
• Encourage students to schedule meetings with their academic advisor and underscore the significance of actively reviewing their educational plans.
• Monitors services and traffic flow in the Glasser Center for Student Athlete Academic Achievement.
• Provides administrative support including (but not limited to) heavy telephone and in person inquiry, preparing correspondence and mailings, data input, filing reports, scanning of documents to the College Life/Athletics department.
• Supports Student Service Generalists, Specialists and Coordinators in performance of their duties as it relates to programming (i.e.
: Financial Aid Literacy workshops, New Student Orientation, Athletic programming).
• Ability to exercise impeccable customer service skills in establishing and maintaining effective working relations with students and the College community.
Must be able to service multiple students at once.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
Education Requirements
Associate degree required.
Experience
• Minimum of one (1) year of office & customer service experience.
Competencies and Skills Required
• Competency in Word, Excel, Outlook & Windows required.
• Proficient in utilizing multiple computer platforms & applications simultaneously.
Knowledge and Abilities:
• Ability to read, write, and speak English is required.
Ability to read, write and speak Spanish is preferred.
• Must possess strong interpersonal skills to interact tactfully and courteously with students, the public, faculty and other staff members.
• Ability to promptly understand policies and procedures relating to every aspect of student services that a prospective or current student may utilize.
Physical Demands and Work Environment
• This position's duties are normally performed in a typical interior/residence work environment, based on the activity scheduled.
• Some physical effort is required; however, the employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
• Work may require long periods of standing.
• No or very limited exposure to physical risk.
• Some travel required.
Salary
$38,426.00

Terms of Employment
Flexible schedule to meet department needs.
Some evening, weekends, and extended hours may be required.
Ability and willingness to travel on short notice to all on and off- campus sites as needed by the college.
Position may be required to work at any campus at any time.
Employees must establish primary residency in New Jersey within one year of appointment unless an exemption applies.
