If you align with BGS' company values and culture, we would love for you to explore opportunities to join our growing team by checking out the job description below Responsibilities: Manage and direct the daily tasks required to perform ongoing support of design, construction, startup and/or operations/ maintenance activities of complex high technology systems or projects.
Render opinions on engineering, management, and/or technical issues.
Provide recommendations to project design and construction teams in specific areas of expertise.
Provide independent reviews and assessments in areas of specialized expertise.
Provide guidance to project teams in delivering results on projects of complex nature, interface with management personnel and customer representatives.
Apply and enforces work standards, assigns schedules.
Review work quality, communicates goals, objectives, and policies of the organization to staff.
Coordinate with the functional organizations, may supervise entry level personnel within the project organization.
Review demolition activities, design documents, construction drawings, work packages, work plans, radiological surveys, procedures, permits, and regulatory documentation.
Participate in contractor progress meetings on a daily/weekly basis as requested by the Manager.
Review and analyze contractor reports, schedules, and related information, and provide summary of review, analysis, and recommendations to the Manager on a daily/weekly basis.
Technical review of contractor safety programs such as Worker Health and Safety; Industrial Safety, Industrial Hygiene, Chronic Beryllium Disease Prevention, Asbestos Occupational Exposure Prevention, Chemical Safety Management integration, Operating experience and lessons learned, and any additional safety management program support as required.
Provide technical engineering and safety expertise on oversight activities.
Provide daily oversight of field work to ensure work is completed in accordance with work package requirements and evaluate compliance with Environmental Safety and Health (ES&H) and RadCon practices.
Provide monthly contractor status reports to the Environmental management Consolidated Business Center (EMCBC) - Office Manager/Director (Manager).
Coordinate closely on a daily/weekly basis with the NR program's operating contractor on site related to US Department of Energy (DOE) activities.
Promote coordination and communication among DOE, the DOE contractor, and the Naval Reactors (NR) program operating contractor.
Review and analyze work plans and work packages submitted to DOE for consideration and provide input to the Manager as requested.
Technical field oversight of safety programs as listed above including conducting assessments, reporting, event notifications, corrective action plan reviews and lessons learned preparation.
Requirements: Bachelor of Science in relevant field of study 10 years' experience in environmental/regulatory arena.
DOE nuclear facility management experience.
Experience in working and effectively communicating with all levels of staff and contractors.
Ability to acquire and maintain a security clearance.
Must be US citizen.
Successful drug screening.
Preferred Qualifications: DOE environmental project experience.
Knowledge of DOE, Federal, and State environmental regulation.
Facility Representation certification.
Experience with Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA) and/or Comprehensive Environmental Response, Compensation, and Liability Act (CERCLA) closure processes.
Experience with contaminated waste disposal.
Knowledge of work practices in radiologically contaminated areas is beneficial.
Knowledge of Deactivation & Decommissioning (D&D) work activities (i.e., utility isolations, characterization, asbestos and regulated waste abatement, piping and equipment removal/size reduction, heavy component rigging and removal, decontamination/application of fixatives, structure demolition, slab removal, waste packaging and shipping).
Location/Work Arrangement: This position can be a Hybrid Work Arrangement or Remote.
