Berkshire Hathaway Homestate Companies, Workers Compensation Division, has an immediate opening for a Subrogation Claims Professional. This adjusting professional is responsible for managing a caseload of subrogation claims of varying degrees of complexity in accordance with established guidelines while providing gold-standard service to internal partners and external parties, effective cost-containment, and maximal recovery outcomes to achieve company goals and objectives. 
\n ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIESProactively manages claims with an outcome-based resolution in focus, demonstrating effective strategic planning for optimal resolution that is well documented in file and followed through in a timely fashion. Ensures that caseload is managed in compliance with applicable statutes, regulations, case law, and company standards.Provides expertise to Claims staff with identification of third-party liability, offers recommendations on recovery potential, and coordinates communication with responsible parties for facilitating recovery of payment.  Assists with recovery of overpayments for duplicate-coverage claims.  Identifies legal liability and pursues, negotiates and settles subrogation collection. Interacts with appropriate parties to recommend and document necessary information to close claim.Demonstrates understanding of complexities of global resolution and able to effectively navigate for optimal outcome.  Demonstrates effective decision making and negotiation strategy and implementation for most favorable resolutions.  Coordinates with Claims staff and external partners as appropriate to accomplish same.  Ensures clear, timely communication to all parties on outstanding issues and thorough, timely notepad updates to file.  Actively participates in Claims training on subrogation potential and strategic planning, effective negotiation strategy, and global resolutions.  Proactively participates in Claims roundtable discussions providing technical insight as appropriate.  Participates in a variety of subrogation-related projects such as process improvements, workflow mapping, trend identification, etc. REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONSEducation: Minimum of High School diploma or equivalent certificate required.  Bachelor's degree from an accredited four-year university preferred. Experience: Minimum of 5 years of workers compensation claims adjusting experience, with a minimum of 2 years highly focused on subrogation strategy and resolution.  Certifications:  Maintains qualifying educational criteria to manage a caseload of workers compensation claims for state(s) assigned.    Language Ability: Able to read and interpret information and documents contained in claim files.  Able to write routine reports and correspondence.  Expertise in effective negotiation, and writing/interpreting legal and business correspondence and reports.  Compelling presenter of research, in make persuasive arguments, and responses to questions from attorneys, internal partners, and external sources.  Critical Thinking:  Able to think critically and adapt quickly in a flexible and dynamic environment.  Are proactive and inquisitive in approach to work.  Able to derive appropriate conclusions and apply on the job.Math and Reasoning Ability: Able to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios and proportions to practical claims solutions.  Able to compute rate, ratio, and percent.  Able to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Able to deal with problems involving multiple unknown variables in situations with limited data.  Relies on extensive experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals.  TECHNICAL SKILLSDemonstratable expertise in workers compensation claims management knowledge for state assigned; ability to apply skillfully and consistently.  Strategic ability for successful global resolutions.Proficient data analytic skills to perform solid data collection, analysis, and reporting.Proficient in Microsoft Office suite of products. Proficient with claims software systems and able to master and become proficient in proprietary and vended software programs as needed.
