We are seeking an experienced, dynamic and collaborative long-term substitute teacher for a K-2 Spanish teacher position. The timeframe for this position is August-December 2023. Long-term substitutes will be considered for future full-time openings. The Individual Who Fills This Role Will
Sheridan's Spanish language program emphasizes both language acquisition and cultural understanding, is aligned with ACTFL standards, and is based on the Organic World Language (OWL) instructional approach. Create and deliver content-rich, developmentally-appropriate lessons focused on an introduction to and development of the Spanish language Collaborate with Lower School homeroom co-teachers and other Spanish teachers at Sheridan to ensure alignment, integration with other subjects and school routines Align with Sheridan's mission, philosophy and program goals Partner with families around their child's educational journey, successes and challenges Actively participate in Mountain Campus trips, admissions events, and other important facets of school life Design curriculum and instruction in collaboration with the lower school division head and other faculty members Work collaboratively with the student support team on issues related to student growth and support Create an environment that ensures equitable and respectful care and support for students with diverse beliefs and practices and varied backgrounds
