The Supply Chain Buyer coordinates the purchase of materials, supplies, and services from new and existing vendors to support the operation of the Cleveland Clinic within the assigned specialty areas. Responsibilities: Reviews requisitions to assure compliance to approved vendors. Adheres to department processes and guidelines for materials, supplies, and services to be purchased. Supports the process of pricing validation, resolution of invoice price discrepancies, and conversions to compliant purchases. Works with the category team in the resolution and escalation of issues to related pricing, availability of supply, product specifications, and utilization. Owns back-order and substitution requirements and action plans to insure the proper supply level to maintain patient care levels. Facilitates and maintains the short term substitute list. Maintains the proper and appropriate professional and ethical relationships with all vendor representatives, conducts business according to established principals and guidelines. Places all assigned orders. Organizes, facilitates updates and retains product information files and purchase order records. Secures reasons for price changes and challenges price changes when not justified. Ensures appropriate paperwork is secured from the vendor and updated in the respective information systems. Works in concert with the sourcing teams that all updates are processed on a timely basis to facilitate an efficient procure to pay process. Communicates the status of issues to appropriate staff as required. Delivers a high-level of customer service to all internal and external customers and vendors. Adheres to all policies, guidelines, operating procedures, and reporting metrics to manage the utilization and compliance of the procure-to-pay process. Other duties as assigned. Education: Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, transportation and logistics, Business or a related field required. Additional four years of supply chain or purchasing experience can substitute the degree requirement. Certifications: Certified Purchasing Manager (CPM) or American Production and Inventory Control Society (APICS) certification preferred. Complexity of Work: Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action. Work Experience: Minimum two years of purchasing or related experience required. Physical Requirements: Ability to perform work in a stationary position for extended periods Ability to operate a computer and other office equipment Ability to communicate and exchange accurate information Ability to travel throughout the hospital system and, in some locations, off-site. Personal Protective Equipment: Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required. Pay Range: $20.77 - $31.68 / hour The pay range displayed on this job posting reflects the anticipated range for new hires. While the pay range is displayed as an hourly rate, Cleveland Clinic recruiters will clarify whether the compensation is hourly or salary. A successful candidate's actual compensation will be determined after taking factors into consideration such as the candidate's work history, experience, skill set, and education. This is not inclusive of the value of Cleveland Clinic's benefits package, which includes among other benefits, healthcare/dental/vision and retirement.
