Why should you join WWT as a SE Director? World Wide Technology, Inc. has an opportunity available for a Systems Engineering Director to support our Global Enterprise Sales teams located in Texas. This position, reporting to the VP of Engineering – Mid-America West, is responsible for leading the execution of WWT's technical strategy in support of our business priorities. In this role you will identify business needs and opportunities, and the problem-solving skills to help achieve them through technological and organizational innovation.
What will you be doing? The Systems Engineering Director will be responsible for recruiting, developing, and leading a team of experienced Systems Engineering Managers and Consulting Systems Engineers/Architects who deliver deep technical knowledge and unique testing and validation capabilities to our Enterprise customers and WWT sales teams. Additionally, this individual will take part in customer meetings and presentation at the C-level to provide consultative framework around the services and solutions that WWT can provide. The candidate must possess broad expertise in infrastructure, application and cloud architectures.
RESPONSIBILITIES: Own the execution of the technical strategy while contributing to the organization's overall business strategy, plans, and technology direction.Collaborate with Sales, Services and Consulting Systems Engineers to define strategic technical plans and align/partner with the key OEMs to solve customer problems.Lead Executive/Sr. level meetings with customers to gain a detailed understanding of their technical and business needs.Help develop transformational solutions that enable our customers to achieve best-in-class performance, reliability, and privacy, while adhering to industry standard architectural principles.Conduct architecture and technical workshops that may include enablement sessions, working with WWT experts in network, compute, storage, virtualization, collaboration, security, big data and application development.Identify trade-offs between short- and long-term gains by having a deep understanding of customer needs and technical choices.Recruit, hire and effectively manage and grow a diverse and talented set of employees.Provide technical direction, coaching and mentoring to employees on the team, and others, when necessary to achieve successful short- and long-term outcomes.Develop strong relationships with strategic OEM partners and customers.Participate in industry, product, sales, and procedural training as needed to maintain the knowledge and certifications necessary to be effective.QUALIFICATIONS: Ideally candidate will live in the Texas region.Deep knowledge of multiple Enterprise industries, particularly the business outcomes, solutions, and technology.Minimum 10 years of progressive engineering management experience in a highly complex, sophisticated environment.3+ years in an enterprise-scale CIO, CTO or EA role.Experience leading the development of enterprise architectures, cloud environments and application frameworks.50% travel may be required.Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience required; Masters degree preferred.Excellent oral and written communication skills, thought leadership, mentorship, and the ability to translate complex architectures into easily understood and consumable solutions are required.Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion is more than a commitment at WWT -- it is the foundation of what we do.
