As a Technical Specialist for Suspension Structures, you will lead the design of components that control lateral, longitudinal, and vertical control of world leading electric vehicles. You will engage with attribute groups and other system owners to guide premier suspension structures from concept to production.
The Role
Design and develop components from initial concept to production
Lead and coach on manufacturing feasibility and processes for structural components
Directly utilize analytical tools to perform manufacturing feasibility on fabricated, stamped and formed structural components
Establish requirements for components based desired vehicle attributes
Plan the technology roadmaps for suspension structures in future vehicles with respect to structural components
Design with excellence at system and component level, with great attention to every detail. Provide technical support to guide your teammates to do the same.
Work closely with both internal teams and externals suppliers, using creativity and teamwork to integrate multiple systems in the most efficient way possible
Coordinate virtual engineering and physical validation testing activities for suspension structures
Manage multiple complex projects in a demanding environment
Qualifications
5+ years of automotive industry experience, mostly focused on chassis mechanical design
Personally designed components from concept to production
In depth experience in stamped and formed bracket and component design.
Experience with stamped and formed bracket manufacturing simulation.
Hands-on practical experience in prototype assembly
Experience in manufacturing and material technology, system, and supplier selection
Proven 3D CAD, project leadership, and mentoring skills
Design release engineering experience, including engineering change management and project management experience
Travel domestically and internationally up to 20% if needed
Advantageous
10+ years of automotive industry experience
Experience and proficiency with CATIA V5/V6
Knowledge of vehicle dynamics, NVH, and vehicle crash safety principles
Ability to run and teach others to use CAE analysis tools
Experience and understanding of automotive mechatronics design and control theory
Experience in load data acquisition and post-processing
Education
BS/BEng or MS/MEng, or equivalent experience, in Mechanical Engineering
