Description: Job Description Job Title: Teen Choir Director Pay: Part-Time $40hr Department: Music Ministry Reports To: Director of Music Ministries FLSA Status: Exempt Prepared By: Director of Music Ministries Prepared Date: June 2022 Updated: June 10, 2024 SUMMARY Assists the Director of Music Ministries in the planning, development, and implementation of the music programs for Teens/Youth and College/Young Adult Choir at Eastern Star Church. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following: Establishes, directs, and provides musical instruction for the Teen/Youth Choir, Sunday Worship, Teen/Youth Praise Team, and assigned musicians. Establish, directs, and provides musical instruction for the College/Young Adult Choir, Sunday Worship, College/Young Adult Praise Team, and assigned musicians. Consult with the Director of Music Ministries regarding the order of worship and selection of choral music. Coordinates rehearsal schedules for assigned choirs and praise teams. Coordinates the work schedule (choir rehearsals, band rehearsals, and worship services) for assigned musicians in collaboration with the Director of Music. Supervise the assigned musicians and report information to the Director of Music Ministries. Consult with the Director of Music Ministries regarding the hiring and firing of assigned musicians. Responsible for completing appropriate room requisition forms for the Teen/Youth Choir and Praise Team. Responsible for completing appropriate room requisitions forms for College/Young Adult Choir, and Praise Team. Responsible for processing assigned accounts payables. Develops and maintains music library of designated choirs and praise team. Develops, implements, and maintains Praise & Worship PowerPoint presentations for Teen/Young Adult worship services. Assists in the coordination of special Teen/Young Adult events, such as Youth Conference, Lock-Ins, and Young Adult events. Provides music for Quarterly Teen Ignite Worship experience for Youth Church. Provides music for Young Adult/Crew events when necessary. Schedules time daily to learn and practice material for assigned ministry rehearsals. Provides music for funerals at Eastern Star Church as designated. Provides music for special Teen/Young Adult meetings, special worship services, and programs as designated. Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned. SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES Eastern Star Church assigned musicians. QUALIFICATIONS To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE High school diploma or general education degree (GED), and 3 years related experience and/or training in a gospel music environment. High level of musical skills derived from extensive choral training or experience. LANGUAGE SKILLS Ability to present and provide instruction to musicians and choir members, and ability to communicate effectively to motivate musicians and choir members. Ability to interact with the congregation and work with church staff. Able to read, understand, and interpret a variety of musical documents. MATHEMATICAL SKILLS Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. REASONING ABILITY Ability to create practical solutions to problems in a timely manner. Ability to interpret and follow a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form. OTHER SKILLS, ABILITIES, QUALIFICATIONS, ETC. Ability to initiate, develop, and maintain a high-quality music program. Continue to maintain and improve the necessary musical skills. Must be available for all Sunday services, midweek services, occasional holidays, and choir rehearsals. Available for meetings and occasional services such as funerals. Must be conscientious, trustworthy, loyal, and dependable. PHYSICAL DEMANDS Must be able to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger; handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop; kneel; crouch or crawl; and speak and hear. Must be able to lift up to 25 lbs. WORK ENVIRONMENT Work performed primarily indoors. The environment can become very loud.
