Our Traffic Engineering & Planning team is involved in a variety of projects, including traffic safety and traffic calming studies, transportation modeling and simulation, signal timing optimization, traffic signal and Intelligent Transportation System design, big data, pedestrian/bicycle planning, and long-range transportation planning.

\n In this position the candidate will:Develop and update traffic simulation models to analyze current and future transportation network performance. Utilize traffic simulation software and techniques to study traffic flows, congestion patterns, and the effects of various traffic management strategies. Conduct detailed data analysis using traffic counts, signal timing data, and other transportation-related data sources to understand traffic behavior and network dynamics. Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to integrate traffic simulation efforts with roadway design and infrastructure improvement initiatives. Design and execute scenario-based simulations to evaluate the potential impact of traffic control measures, infrastructure projects, and operational strategies. Provide technical expertise and guidance on traffic simulation modeling methodologies, best practices, and emerging trends. Prepare clear and concise reports, presentations, and technical documents to communicate findings and recommendations to clients and stakeholders. Assist in the development of traffic impact studies, corridor analyses, and other transportation-focused documents. May perform other duties as part of this role. Qualifications for this role:Bachelor's or Master's degree in Civil Engineering, Transportation Engineering, Urban Planning, Computer Science, or a related field. Ideally 2+ years of relevant industry experience performing traffic simulation and analysis. Proficiency in traffic simulation software such as VISSIM, TransModeler, Synchro, Aimsun, or similar tools.Strong analytical skills and experience with statistical analysis, data visualization, and GIS software.Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment. Ability to program in Python and/or R. Experience working on traffic engineering or planning projects for government agencies or consulting firms preferred.
