**Job Title:** Registered Nurse **Job Specialty:** Labor and Delivery **Job Duration:** 13-week assignment **Shift:** 12-hour nights with mandatory call required **Guaranteed Hours:** 36 hours per week **Experience:** Minimum 3 years of experience **License:** Required for submission **Certifications:** - BLS (Basic Life Support) - ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support) - NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) **Must-Have:** - Couplet Care experience **Job Description:** - Participate in the care of patients in labor and delivery, including labor, pre-term labor, pre-eclampsia, substance use disorders, hyperemesis gravidarum, pyelonephritis, gestational diabetes, and transient tachypnea of the newborn. - Manage titratable drips including Heparin, Insulin, Oxytocin, Epidurals, and Magnesium Sulfate. - Provide care adhering to AWHONN staffing guidelines. - Utilize Charge Nurse/House Supervisor resources available 24/7. - Collaborate with CNAs and CTAs, with support from Family Practice Residents available 24/7. - Engage with high-risk OB on-call and Neonatology via consultations. - Utilize RT equipment including vents and nasal bubble CPAP; vented infants are transferred after stabilization. - Operate under an EFM System using Obix. - Fulfill weekend requirements every other week and satisfy holiday requirements with one major, one minor, and one difficult-to-staff holiday. - No floating requirements. - Abide by the hospital-provided scrub color/dress code. - Participate in one day of hospital orientation and one shift of unit-specific orientation. - Maintain compliance with the cancellation policy. - Use Epic Systems Corporation - EpicCare Inpatient - EMR for charting. **Special Notes:** - Orientation occurs every two weeks. - Pets can complicate housing availability; plan accordingly. - The unit has 12 Labor & Delivery beds, 2 LDRP, antepartum & GYN beds, 1 OR suite, 2 triage beds, and about 800 births per year. - Monitor techs are present in an eMCU; RNs do not read the strips but are capable of doing so.
