Do you want to ensure that veterans have access to resources to overcome obstacles in order to find secure housing, stable employment, and a place within our community?
Then we want you to join us as our Veterans Coordinator with our Union Grove Veterans Housing and Recovery Program!
The Veterans Housing and Recovery Program has been active in Wisconsin since 1994 and our work is critical to help find resources for veterans in employment, housing, transportation, social growth, and more!
We can support veterans for up to two years but some are able to complete the program in 6 to 10 months.
The Veterans Coordinator performs a variety of tasks related client services including: managing resident intake paperwork, scheduling and administering of UA, room checks and managing screening of residents entering the building, cleaning of vacated rooms, light maintenance tasks, working with clinical team to address safety concerns and client behaviors, and other duties as assigned to ensure our veterans are safe during their time with us.
This is a full-time, 40 hours per week, benefits eligible opportunity.
The anticipated hours for this position are between 8am-5pm.
This position does include hours on the weekend for coordination of food service programs.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities: This list of duties and responsibilities is not all-inclusive and may be expanded to include other duties and responsibilities as management may deem necessary.
Serves as a representative of the agency and the properties/programs to internal and external customers.
Performs screening of residents entering building including breathalyzers, UAs and bag checks.
Schedules random UAs, bed checks and coordinates implementation with security staff. Works with Clinical team to coordinate monthly room checks and works with residents to correct noncompliance issues. Manage veteran activities including: Facilitate Veteran Wellness Committee Lead/participate in morning meeting Assign chores and teach/coach/monitor participants re completion of chores Lead participants in work groups for special projects at the facility (e.g., cleaning rooms prior to new admissions moving in) In coordination with case manager/clinician: Teach/coach/monitor participants as needed regarding independent living skills such as laundry, personal hygiene, housekeeping, etc. Assist participants with their daily schedule (for example, for those who need help getting up for the morning meeting, getting to groups, etc.
) Intervene/assist with interpersonal difficulties inherent in a communal living situation (roommate complaints, noise complaints, TV remote control possession, etc.
) Address concerns regarding residents.
This may include notification of rules violations, failure of UA or breathalyzer, or noncompliance issues with resident handbook. Lead/participate in emergency drills Performs monthly checks of resident personal vehicles, manages the parking lot and vehicle issues (check insurance/registration/driver's license etc.).
Manage clothing room, laundry room, toiletries, etc. Performs housekeeping duties including but not limited to dusting, emptying wastebaskets, scouring sinks and toilets, washing windows, and cleaning blinds. Cleans all floors using vacuums, broom, mop.
Collects and disposes of waste materials; cleans surrounding areas. May provide direct services related to resident's room setup/tear down; including moving tables, chairs and other furniture and equipment. May perform light maintenance tasks such as changing light bulbs, removing broken glass, cleaning carpets, and resetting fire alarm systems. Identifies safety concerns and notifies appropriate personnel in a timely fashion. May perform security checks of the building and surrounding grounds ensuring exterior doors are closed and locked. Assists in the preparing meals and other kitchen duties to ensure grant compliance.
Performs other duties as required/assigned.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE: Graduation from high school or GED equivalency is required.
Associates degree is preferred. Previous experience in social services is preferred.
Proficiency in a variety of software programs (client data base, Outlook) is preferred. Excellent customer focus. Demonstrated professional tact and decorum. Solid interpersonal and communication skills (written, verbal and listening). Ability to balance multiple competing priorities and deadlines. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment both independently and as part of a team. CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS: Must have a valid driver's license and have reliable transportation to perform the essential duties of the role; a motor vehicle check (MVR) with a satisfactory driving record per the LSS Driver Safety Procedure is required, and ability to meet LSS auto insurance requirements.
LANGUAGE SKILLS: Ability to communicate both in verbal and written format, effectively and efficiently in job.
This position interacts with others within and outside the agency and strong communication skills are required.
COMPUTER SKILLS/TECHNOLOGY: Working knowledge of computers to allow employee to access computer systems and applications to complete timecards, read and respond to email, and complete required on-line training.

The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
TRAVEL: Position may travel daily between programs.
May travel over the two state area on occasion for training and meetings and may include some overnights.
