ABOUT THE ROLE:
Are you a news junkie with a passion for healthcare, patient and provider storytelling in media?
Zeno Group, a PRWeek Global Agency of the Year, is seeking a strategic leader and media relations pro for the role of VP, Earned Media servicing its Health + Wellness practice. The ideal candidate has a proven track record of delivering top-tier coverage in this space and is a strategic, creative thinker who knows how to build sound media strategy and think like an editor. This person should demonstrate the ability to help clients navigate important healthcare milestones (e.g. FDA approvals and clinical trials), ability to navigate the landscape (e.g. important conferences/policy discussions) along with established know-how and relationships with healthcare reporters in national media and key trades. Additionally, our future VP, Earned Media is a self-starter who can proactively use their network and know-how to confidently counsel clients and teammates alike, all while plugging into Zeno's existing media team as a VP+ leader.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Build healthcare media strategy for important global healthcare accounts.
Pitch media and secure results for health and wellness clients across key trades, national media.
Identify and develop content for media outreach, including ID'ing newsworthy angles, timely topics and more 'evergreen' opportunities.
Be the 'media relationship master' across the practice – using both your existing relationships and growing new ones.
Understand the (complex) issues facing the healthcare industry – esp. pharma, biotech, medical device and consumer health– and counsel clients and teammates alike on how to navigate.
Ability to find "white space" for clients amongst their competitors for earned storytelling.
Lead earned media strategy and capabilities in new business.
Understand earned's role in an integrated comms strategy that often includes paid, social/digital and owned channels.
Join an existing, cross-practice media team and contribute to the betterment of media relations across the whole agency through setting a positive example.
Active participant in Zeno's earned education programs and agency-wide resource materials.
QUALIFICIATIONS:
At least 8-10 years' experience – agency preferred – with specific experience in healthcare industry and on healthcare clients.
Specific experience helping clients navigate FDA approvals, clinical trials, the medical conference landscape and other important industry milestones.
Passion for all things earned media, and understanding for the necessary ingredients to build a successful strategy that delivers media wins.
Ability to conceptualize media-worthy stories from initial ideas and brainstorms – and the ability weigh in quickly on what is considered "mediable."
Robust portfolio of secured earned coverage in desired verticals.
Demonstrated excellent writing and editorial skills as well as the proven ability to make clear, convincing presentations to clients and senior leaders.
An innate and natural ability to multi-task and juggle many different projects.
A leading-edge knowledge of how media works today – and a point of view on the future of earned media as a tool within the communicator's toolkit.
Solution-oriented, collaborative, go-getter mentality with the ability to thrive amid ambiguity.
$95,000 - $156,000 a year
Pay range: $95,000 to $156,000/year USD.
An employee's pay position within the salary range will be based on several factors including, but not limited to, relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, geographic location, performance, travel requirements, revenue-based metrics, any contractual agreements, and business or organizational needs. The range listed is just one component of DJEH's total compensation package for employees. Other rewards may include annual bonuses, a Paid Time Off policy, and region-specific benefits.
