Summary: The Vice President, Membership is a strategic thinker, problem-solver and strong relationship-builder who leads membership recruitment and retention efforts that directly support U.S. Travel's strategic priorities. As a vital contributor on our senior leadership team, this role will partner across the organization to strengthen the member value proposition for all categories to boost retention, develop and lead an ambitious growth campaign to recruit new members at all levels, and create internal efficiencies to maximize member cost-to-serve.

Responsibilities: Create and implement a strategic plan to drive membership value and growth in all categories. Design and consistently improve the member experience, ensuring strong member acknowledgement, engagement and recognition processes and activities. Develop and execute a comprehensive member recruitment strategy, including cultivating a pipeline encompassing member prospects from the entire travel ecosystem. Collaborate with senior leadership team to develop new initiatives, strategic partnerships and benefits that enhance membership offerings. Work with marketing team to develop member recruitment campaigns, marketing collateral, pitch decks and case studies to complement outreach efforts. Partner with marketing to help members and partners see the ROI they expect from U.S. Travel membership. Formulate and execute key initiatives to consistently reinforce and fortify U.S. Travel's value propositions for all membership categories, ensuring robust member engagement, overall satisfaction, and retention. Collaborate to ensure our events engage new members, solidify current member value, and create custom business development engagements for members. Build strong relationships with members at all levels and serve as an ambassador of U.S. Travel at industry events and meetings. Oversee development, growth and management of $15M membership budget; analyze data to propose and defend budget projections and forecasts; track and modify projections on a quarterly basis. Monitor engagement levels and create an engagement strategy for at-risk members to ensure retention. Create effective mechanisms to solicit, analyze, share and integrate member feedback. Collaborate with events team to drive revenue success through sponsorship and sales. Manage team of four colleagues to drive member growth, retention, efficiency and favorability. Detail-oriented with exceptional organizational and time management skills. Receptive to feedback and direction, and in search of constant self-improvement. Education, Experience and Skills: Bachelor's or Graduate degree in Business, Marketing, Tourism, or a related field. A minimum of 12 to 15 years of increased responsibility in membership recruitment and value creation for an association, company or nonprofit. Proficiency in Microsoft 365 applications (Outlook, Word, Excel, Teams, SharePoint, PowerPoint, etc.). Supervisory Responsibility: Vice President, Member Services Manager, Member Recruitment and Sales Other: Position based in Washington, DC. U.S. Travel staff work in the office Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays with the option to work remotely on Mondays and Fridays. Moderate travel (up to 2-3 times per month) is required.
