As the Victim Advocate Program Director, you will play a critical role in reducing trauma for victims and witnesses of crime. You will work closely with victims, prosecutors, and law enforcement to promote trust, communication, and respect while ensuring the objective protection of victims' rights. Preference would be given to a master's degree in Social Work and credentials as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW); ANDFour (4) years of experience performing the above or related duties; ORCombination of training, education, and experience equivalent to a bachelor's degree in Criminal Justice, Social Services or related field from which comparable knowledge was gained.Must be able to pass an extensive background investigation.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Performs day-to-day delivery of victim advocate services; court orders, bench warrants, petition notices, subpoenas, stipulations, "imminent danger" processes, etc.; attend monthly multi-disciplinary team meetings.Conducts in-service workshops in all aspects of victim assistance; upon request, develops and presents information to citizen groups and school groups regarding the victim advocate program.Receives and reviews cases set for court appearance; extracts and records data regarding identification of victims and witnesses; conducts interviews to determine level and type of services appropriate to the individual case; sets up files as needed to monitor level and success of victim advocate services; assures confidentiality of file materials.Monitors disposition of court cases and apprises victims of the same. Assists attorney in providing support to and advocacy for victims prior to and during court proceedings; coordinates with attorneys assigned to cases in determining proper level and type of restitution to be sought; establishes a "safe environment" to promote effective communications between victims, witnesses, and legal staff; assists victims in locating and receiving special services and assistance, such as medical, personal therapy, etc.Performs case analysis, research, and background checks to determine the appropriate type and level of restitution due to crime victims; prepares restitution statements; coordinates and apprises legal staff of findings and makes recommendations to the court for the same; offers in-court testimony; provides special information to crime victims seeking restitution or legal remedies; provides forms and apprises individuals of special services and related processes.Performs as liaison with various community support groups. Informs victims of their rights under the law. Prepares victims for court, provides court accompaniment, and notifies victims of future court proceedings, including updates of their offender's case.Assists victims with filing and obtaining orders of protection; prepares orders for service and attends hearings. Assesses victim needs and acts as a resource for community service referrals. Aids victims in accessing restitution and reparation funding.Documents and communicates effectively in the exchange of information by completing thorough case documentation in a cloud-based electronic case management system. Prepares and ensures adequate supplies are available of various handouts and brochures at all times.
