The Planer Lead is responsible for the maintenance and upkeep of the Planer Mill as well as maintaining the Planer and all peripheral equipment.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Responsibilities To ensure smooth operation of all planer functions, mechanical and operational.
Orders and stocks repair parts.
Directs all repairs and weekend work, including major overhaul.
Change heads, change knives, grind, joint, unjam planer, lubricate machinery, and change profiles as neededSafetyOperate in a safe manner in accordance to work safe rules, regulations, and policies Recognize and eliminate all safety hazardsEvaluate unsafe work procedures and equipment and take corrective action as required People Leadership Supervise planer personnel and establish quality of workmanship Train and develop employees in safe working procedures Evaluate unsafe work procedures and equipment and take corrective action as required Improve productivity by initiating upgrades and repairs in a timely mannerOperationalEnsure that all equipment runs efficiently for maximum recovery and production.
Direct major overhauls in Planer Daily maintenance records Order file for parts Annual parts inventory Skills Commitment to working safely coupled with strong communication & interpersonal skills Ability to work independently with little supervision; Organizational and planning skills as well as proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlookan asset Must be familiar with lockout procedures of machinery Strong understanding of production flow and product quality Strong technical knowledge related to planer operation, including set-up and maintenance.
