Workforce Case Manager - Austin Area Urban League

*Note: This is a subsidized employment position available through Workforce Solutions Capital Area. All candidates will be considered after program eligibility is confirmed.* Summary/Objective The Workforce Case Manager provides career counseling, goal setting, intensive job readiness, job search and placement assistance, case management, and training/re-training and follow up services to program clients.
Duties and Responsibilities: • Responsible for eligibility determination, data entry and case management for each applicant under all programs.
• Maintains complete, accurate and timely case notes and related records in manual and or electronic systems.
• Screen client resumes and provide quality referrals to employers for employment and maintain an updated internal candidate pool.
• Outreach to clients who fail to show for appointments.
• Contact clients on a regular basis for employment needs or job status.
• Track employment placement and retention outcomes for program clients.
• May assist client with guidance for occupational training activities and support services when needed.
• Create, update and ensure plans are completed according to contract deadlines.
• Develops and maintains a referral database for various community services and refers clients to other agencies for service when appropriate.
• Serve as an advocate for clients with employers and other agencies when needed.
• Submit routine weekly, monthly, quarterly or yearly reports on a timely basis.
• Explains program services and policies to clients and general public.
• Assist in outreach/recruitment activities.
• Help participants deal with attitudes and behaviors that impede their personal growth and adversely affect their employability.
• Establish and maintain networks of outside providers offering acute mental health services beyond the scope of Workforce Development Department.
• Serve as backup to other department staff.
• Attend AAUL staff and department meetings; communicates problems and offer suggestions for their resolution.
• Exemplifies the desired culture and philosophies of AAUL- within the agency as well as when representing the agency to clients, the public and other external sources.
• Encourages and builds mutual trust, respect and cooperation among team members.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: • Must have proficient computer skills and database entry ability (i.e. Microsoft Office, internet research and use of email communications).
• Ability to interpret complex written material and analyze problems as they relate to case management.
• Ability to communicate effectively in writing and verbally.
• Ability to coordinate, organizes, prioritize and work independently and as a team member.
• Ability to build and maintain a professional working relationship with clients, funding sources, community representatives and Austin Area Urban League staff.
• Ability to handle multiple tasks.
• Ability to work with minimal supervision.
Education and/or Experience: • Bachelor's Degree in social work, career counseling, psychology or a closely related discipline is preferred. Experience may substitute for education up to a minimum of five (5) years in field of social services. At least three (3) years of independent counseling experience working in both individual and group settings.
• Strong interpersonal and organizational skills.
• Ability to interact positively with a variety of personalities and socio-economic populations.
• Must be computer literate and have MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint skills and the ability to learn specialized databases and software systems
• Familiarity with WIA (Workforce Investment Act) client eligibility standards or processes
• Bilingual a plus
Other Requirements: • Must have reliable transportation.
• Must be able to work a flexible schedule, varying hours including evenings and weekends as needed.
Compensation and Benefits: $18.00 an hour/Full-time
