Worship Music Director

Coordinate, develop, and direct music for worship services and events. Work with the Abbot and Worship Director to select and arrange Buddhist chant/hymn and worship music appropriate for Buddhist teachings, the theme of the Abbot's sermon, and all worship services. Lead and provide musical accompaniments for all services, prayer sessions, ancestral rituals, meditation sessions, and special events such as weddings and funerals. Perform musical instruments and Dharma drums for all services. Plan special music for weekly worship services and special occasions and holidays. Recruit volunteers for music ministry.

Encourage and motivate the music ensemble within the congregation, schedule and conduct rehearsals. Communicate with music team members for upcoming services, events, and rehearsal schedules. Train and direct the music team and instruct musical instrument techniques. Inspect, maintain, and oversee the care and upkeep of musical instruments. Catalog and organize all music resources.

Assist the Abbot in preparing and planning seminars, special services, and events. Collaborate with the Worship Director and the music team to enhance the Buddhist worship experience across all services and events. Attend weekly staff meetings. Offer suggestions and observations that would improve the Temple's music ministry. Assist the Abbot with other ministry projects as needed in developing and communicating the mission and vision of the Temple. Assume other duties assigned by the Abbot.
