Our founders recognized a need for a nonprofit to step in to assist this deserving population and we are still doing that critical work today, on O'ahu, Kaua'i, and the Island of Hawai'i. Role Overview Hale Kipa is seeking dedicated Youth Counselors to join our team, supporting youth aged 12-17 who are experiencing some type of crisis and are participants in our Emergency Shelter Program. As a Youth Counselor, you will manage crisis situations, provide a stable, safe, and nurturing environment, and help the youth work through their issues. Your responsibilities will include ensuring youth engagement in a structured program, comprising of chores, meals, leisure time, study time, meetings, and planned activities.

Additionally, you will hold discussions with the youth, assisting them with emotional processing, promoting adaptive coping mechanisms, and setting firm boundaries. Beyond direct work with the youth, you will handle intake processes, complete necessary documentation on time, and maintain electronic health records. As a team member, you will also need to communicate effectively and represent Hale Kipa professionally when interacting with stakeholders, parents/guardians, and youth.

Schedules consist of shift coverage: Monday - Friday: 7:30am - 3:00pm or 2:30pm-10:30pm Saturday & Sunday: 8:45am-10:30pm Overnight shifts: Sunday - Thursday: 10:00pm - 8:00am; Friday & Saturday: 10:00pm - 9:00am Qualifications: High School diploma or GED Experience or training in working with youth is highly preferred Requirements: A valid driver's license Ability to drive the agency van to take youth on outings Benefits Medical/Drug/Vision/Dental Flexible Spending Account Paid Time Off (PTO) / 6 Paid Holidays 403(b) Retirement Plan Group Term Life Insurance Access to voluntary insurance plans Salary: Range: $17.00 - $20.00 Retention Bonus: $500 after 1 year of employment An EEO Employer
