The Role:
Supporting Moderna's Pulmonary research team, the summer intern, Pulmonary will use our mRNA products to demonstrate expression and activity of therapeutic proteins of interest in relevant in vitro and in vivo respiratory disease models. Biology, biochemistry, neuroscience, and related majors are encouraged to apply.

Here's What You'll Do:
Work on a project that is important to Moderna's mission, with support from an experienced mentor who will provide a unique perspective on projects and careers

Be given opportunities to participate in the discovery and/or development of novel therapies for pulmonary diseases, and to collaborate with colleagues

Perform and/or support experiments and assays such as:

Maintaining relevant cells in culture

Cell transfection

Ex vivo sample preparation

Protein detection

Activity assays

Sample preparation for the flow cytometry

Maintain an organized work area and electronic lab notebook

Analyze experimental data and present your work at group and team meetings

Here's What You'll Bring to the Table:
Minimum GPA of 3.4

Currently enrolled Junior or Senior

Must be curious, eager to learn, and independent

Previous co-op or intern experience preferred

Experience in the following areas is preferred

Tissue culture and cell transfection;

Protein detection methods (Western blot, capillary electrophoresis, MSD, ELISA)

Flow cytometry

PCR and subcellular fractionation/isolation

Assay development and troubleshooting preferred

This role is based in our new LEED-certified HQ in Cambridge, MA and is expected to be in office 70% of the time with flexibility to work from home up to 30%.
