Information Technology Interns at Caterpillar perform the same challenging work assignments as our new full-time hires. We work with our teams to ensure that every intern gains the appropriate professional and personal growth necessary to be successful in a corporate environment. This position is a great way to gain hands-on experience by supporting IT operations at a world-leading manufacturing company.
You'll join a team with diverse project responsibilities and have valuable networking opportunities with all levels of Caterpillar employees. The internship is a 40-hour-per-week assignment lasting 12 weeks. You can focus on building professional abilities in roles including (but not limited to):
* Assist in the development, testing, and implementation of IT solutions.
* Support IT team with troubleshooting and resolving technical issues.
* Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand and document business requirements.
* Participate in the maintenance and upgrade of IT systems and infrastructure.
* Help in the creation of technical documentation and user guides.
* Perform data analysis and generate reports to support decision-making.
Knowledge of one or more programming languages such as Java, Python, C++, or JavaScript.
* Understanding of software development principles and methodologies (e.g., Agile, Scrum).
* Familiarity with various operating systems like Windows, Linux, and macOS.
* Basic knowledge of SQL and database management systems (e.g., MySQL, Oracle, SQL Server).
* Understanding of basic networking concepts, such as TCP/IP, DNS, and network protocols.
* Experience with web development technologies such as HTML, CSS, and JavaScript.
* Familiarity with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, Google Cloud) and cloud services.
* Organize and manage multiple projects simultaneously, ability to quickly gain, and effectively apply new skills & knowledge
* Internship Program Qualifications:
* Must be enrolled in a full-time at a 4-year accredited university/college in one of the following fields of study: Information Technology, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Management Information Systems, Cybersecurity, Data Analytics.
* Must have 15 completed semester hours before the start of the internship.
If a transfer student, must have 12 semester hours completed at a 4-year university.
* Expected graduation date of August 2025 or later.
* Must be able to relocate at indicated work location for the duration of the internship and complete daily work commute using reliable transportation.
Past experience in project work.
* Relevant internship or work experience.
* PowerPoint, Word and Excel skills well-developed.
* Ability to effectively articulate and summarize analytical data for leadership.
