Responsibilities & Expectations: The 3-Phase Technician is responsible for assembling, testing, and preparing 3-phase transformers.
This includes the installation of components, performing electrical tests, and ensuring all work meets high-quality standards before the units are moved to the final testing area.
The technician will work closely with the production team to maintain safety and efficiency in the manufacturing process.
Prepare the 3-phase transformer tank by laying it on its back Apply undercoating and install the drain valve as part of the initial preparation Lower the pre-wound, stacked, and baked 3-phase coil into the prepared transformer tank Fill the tank with oil to cover the coil properly Install high voltage (HV) and low voltage (LV) bushings Connect leads to their corresponding bushings Install tap switches, bayonets, and fuses Connect leads for tap switches, bayonets, and fuses inside the tank Install external components including spades, oil level gauge, temperature gauge, pressure gauge, and pressure relief valve Perform Transformer Turns Ratio (TTR) tests to ensure correct transformer ratios Conduct hipot and megger tests to verify electrical insulation and integrity After passing all tests, fill the transformer tank completely with oil Move the assembled and tested transformer to the final testing area for comprehensive testing and quality assurance Qualifications and Competencies: High school diploma or equivalent required; technical certifications in electrical or mechanical fields preferred Minimum of 2 years of experience in transformer manufacturing or a related field Strong understanding of 3-phase electrical systems and components Experience with electrical testing equipment such as TTR, hipot, and megger testers Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and schematics Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality Ability to work independently and as part of a team You'll thrive at IPS if you... * Lead with integrity and prioritize safety.
