Domestic Outreach involves participating in events including Earth Day as well as Orangutan Caring Week in November. Other activities are planned and conducted by volunteers. OURF works with schools to enroll and inspire students to learn about orangutans and take action to conserve the species.
OURF collaborates with the Sustainable Green Sumatra Foundation (YSHL) to implement the Community Education and Conservation Program (CECP). The CECP program delivers education to villages near Gunung Leuser National Park to reduce conflict between the villagers and orangutans. The CECP program also provides training and assistance in organic farming and waste management at the village level as well as providing ways to improve livelihood as an alternative to destructive practices.
OURF works with the Orangutan Information Center in Medan, Sumatra, Yayasan Palung in West Kalimantan, and Borneo Nature Foundation in Central Kalimantan in implementing the Orangutan Caring Scholarship program.
