Job SummaryThe Alley Buyer will work in a hog yard environment, responsible for livestock management tasks, including sorting, counting, weighing, tattooing, and penning animals. This role requires familiarity with procurement programs, weight docks, and buying procedures, and will provide relief coverage during manager absences.
Key ResponsibilitiesLivestock Management: Sort, count, weigh, tattoo, and pen hogs.Procurement Programs: Learn Tyson Pork Procurement Programs, carcass merit details, and kill sheet information.Station Relief: Act as a station relief buyer when the manager is unavailable.Compliance: Adhere to Tyson SOPs for animal handling, safety protocols, and USDA regulations.Job RequirementsEducation: Bachelor's degree in Agriculture or a related field required. Graduates from Dec 2024 or May 2025 may be considered contingent on degree completion.Experience: Preferably with livestock experience.Skills: Strong verbal and written communication; basic computer skills.Travel: Willingness for overnight travel as needed.Work Environment: Requires safety equipment (hard hat, steel-toe boots, hearing protection) and tolerance for variable temperatures based on the season.Physical DemandsBending & Lifting: Minimal; requires handling light tools (flag and tattoo hammer).Grasping & Standing: Requires full-hand grasp for handling equipment and standing/walking for the shift.Force: Occasionally requires moderate to heavy force.Additional RequirementsAdherence to SOPs and USDA guidelines for animal handling and safety.Commitment to role qualifications and continuous learning under the guidance of a Supervisor Trainer.For a rewarding career in livestock management, apply today!
