Description

The Dallas Children's Advocacy Center is seeking an experienced accountant for our finance department.


ABOUT DCAC: The mission of the Dallas Children's Advocacy Center is to improve the lives of abused children in Dallas County and to provide national leadership on child abuse issues.
DCAC is a non-profit organization and the only agency of its kind in Dallas County, working in agreement with public and private agencies to investigate, prosecute, and provide healing services for child abuse cases in Dallas County.


We reduce the victimization of the child, remove barriers to investigation and treatment, and enhance criminal prosecution with our distinctive multidisciplinary and united approach to these complex and severe cases, all at no cost to our clients.
Each year, DCAC serves over 13,000 children and their non-offending family members.

In 2018, DCAC was named a Best Place to Work by Dallas Business Journal GENERAL DESCRIPTION: Reporting directly to the Director of Finance, the Accountant will be responsible for various accounting functions listed in the essential duties and responsibilities.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: Reconciles and update all balance sheet schedules to the general ledger monthly in a timely manner; research, document, and clear outstanding as part of the month-end close process and submit to Director for review and approval.
Assists with monthly bank reconciliations.
Reviews Accounts Payable invoices and purchase orders on a weekly basis.
Oversee the correct coding of expenses based on departmental budgets.
Reviews Raiser's Edge revenue on a weekly basis.
Oversees the correct coding of revenue based on backup documentation.
Reconciles Revenue recorded in Raisers Edge donor database and CVENT event registration database with Financial Edge general ledger.
Creates outgoing invoices for DCAC reimbursement and for Events.
Prepares monthly journal entries into Financial Edge (Payroll, Prepaid Expense, Prepaid Insurance, Accruals, etc.)
and submit them to the Director of Finance for review and approval.
Prepares the monthly Fixed Asset Depreciation entry and submit it to the Director of Finance for review and approval.
Manages the credit card system and cardholders by ensuring adherence to company policies, providing support to cardholders, and addressing inquiries and issues.
Assists at fundraising events and at the Crimes Against Children Conference.
Assists the Director of Finance and serve as backup for Accounts Payable processing.
Assists the Director of Finance with Center and Foundation annual audits, both financial statement and single, and Form 990s, including preparation of footnotes in the audited financial statements.
Other Duties: Other duties as assigned.
Completes agency required compliance courses in a timely manner.
Attendance supervision meetings and monthly employee staff meetings.
Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance or business with one to two years of experience in accounting.
Nonprofit accounting experience preferred, but not required.


Software required: Proficiency in Microsoft Office-Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and appropriate financial reporting software with familiarity using Blackbaud Accounting Software for Nonprofits (Financial Edge preferred).

Ability to organize work, maintain accuracy, set priorities and meet critical deadlines.
Operates within the Center policies and procedures and maintains strict adherence to confidentiality policy.
Be creative, resourceful, detail-oriented, and flexible despite interruptions.
Ability to establish and maintain professionally challenging achievement goals and exerting effort toward mastering tasks and a willingness to take on responsibilities and challenges.
Ability to maintain agency confidentiality.
Ability to work some weekends and evenings for special projects.
Excellent presentation and communication skills, both written and verbal.
Demonstrated ability to work with all levels of employees, board members, partners, and community.
WORK ENVIRONMENT: Work Location: All work must be performed in the office due to client confidentiality.
Ability apply to work a hybrid schedule, two (2) days per week, after six months of service with DCAC.


Mental and Physical Abilities: Duties are usually performed seated with occasional periods of standing or walking.
Limited physical effort is required associated with lifting and carrying objects (less than 25 lbs.).


Working Conditions: Work may be performed but is not limited to an office environment.
