Summary
The Accounting Business Partner is primarily responsible for the quarterly consolidation process which includes the consolidation of more than 50 Ryder subsidiaries. Required technical knowledge and experience in Accounting for cash flows, foreign currency transactions, Equity Accounting, consolidation and various financial reporting related subjects.
Essential Functions
Prepares monthly actuarial reports by division to determine the adequate requirement of the liability reserves.
Prepares and provides data to PWC for the external actuarial studies.
Prepares and provides data to external parties to support insurance renewals.
Prepares and provides data to support the insurance program collateral needs.
Records necessary entries to keep overall BIPD loss reserve requirements within 1-3% of the actual general ledger balances. Balances the claim database system to the Accounting system.
Allocates insurance cost to the different product lines.
Assist Risk Management's underwriter with loss projections and premiums collected for rating purposes
Prepares analysis to measure the adequacy of insurance reserves and provides financial results monthly as a decision-making tool for management.
Prepares monthly financial package distributed to senior management under extremely light deadlines.
Prepares monthly insurance results and statistics reports to Risk Management and the Safety organization
Provides guidance and direction to personnel, reviews their work and delegates responsibilities

Qualifications
Bachelor's degree required in Business or Accounting
Master's degree preferred in Business or Accounting
Four (4) years or more Public Accounting experience or 6+ years of senior level experience in Insurance Accounting required
Four (4) years or more Experience using statistics or loss development techniques to estimate ultimate losses by accident year for required
Four (4) years or more Supervisory experience required
Four (4) years or more Some Ryder experience to perform at a high level required
Must possess strong computer skills including Excel advanced required
Certified Public Accountant (CPA)
