About EPHC: El Programa Hispano's humble roots began in 1982 when a small group of outreach workers from Catholic Family Services, now Catholic Charities of Oregon, (CCO) conducted outreach to Latino migrant farmworkers in East County. In 2015 with the support of CCO, EPHC became an independent 501c3 organization. Today, EPHC serves more than 20,000 individuals annually in the areas of Economic Sustainability, Education, Community Wellness and Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault prevention, intervention, and advocacy. Opportunities to serve your community and make a positive impact. Essential Duties: Manages and oversees month end and end of year general ledger reconciliation. Manages and oversees monthly billing, cash receipts and revenue recognition. Manages and oversees Accounts payable processing. Job Duties: Financial Accounting and Reporting: Manages and supervises the day-to-day accounting operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger, and payroll. Ensures timely and accurate recording of financial transactions in compliance with accounting principles and internal policies. Prepares monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements. Conducts financial analysis to identify trends, variances, and areas for improvement. Generates accurate and comprehensive financial reports for management, board members, and external stakeholders. Budgeting and Forecasting: Assists in the development of the annual budget in collaboration with department heads and executive leadership. Monitors budget performance, analyzes variances, and provides regular reports to management. Works closely with program managers to ensure program budgets are aligned with strategic objectives. Assists in the preparation of financial forecasts and projections to support organizational planning and decision-making. Internal Controls and Compliance :
Establishes and maintains effective internal control procedures to safeguard assets and ensure the accuracy of financial records. Oversees the reconciliation of bank accounts and ensures proper documentation and approval for financial transactions. Ensures compliance with nonprofit accounting standards, tax regulations, and reporting requirements. Supports the annual audit process and coordinates with auditors to address any findings or recommendations. Stays updated on changes in accounting regulations and implements necessary adjustments to accounting practices. Supervisory Responsibilities: Directly supervises employees in the accounting department. Carries out supervisory responsibilities following the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems. Qualifications & Requirements: Bachelor's degree from a four-year college or university in accounting, finance or related field (master's degree or equivalent preferred), three to five years related experience, and/or training or equivalent combination of education and experience working in accounting, preferably in the nonprofit sector. Strong knowledge of nonprofit accounting principles, financial regulations, and compliance requirements. Other Requirements: Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community. Ability to write speeches and articles for publication that conform to prescribed style and format. Ability to effectively present information to top management, public groups, and/or boards of directors. Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide into all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs. The job requires specialized computer skills. Must be adept at using various applications including using databases, using spreadsheets, report writing, project management, graphics, word processing, presentation creation/editing, communicating by e-mail, and using scheduling software. Experience with Excel, Word, Sage Intaact . Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations. Preferences :
Ability to communicate fluently in Spanish, orally and in writing. COMPENSATION: $82,500-$85,000 Annually/DOE.
Location & Typical Working Conditions: The majority of work performed by this position can be accomplished in a hybrid/remote work environment, though frequent in-person meetings will be required. There are times that work requires in person, onsite activities. On-site work is located at EPHC's offices in Gresham, OR.
