The Accounting Manager position is responsible for and participates in a variety of areas across the accounting cycle including budgeting, inventory, accruals for month and year-end closing, payroll, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and cash management. This position will also work with the Corporate Controller to complete the annual audit of the Company as well as the Employee Retirement Plan Audit.
This person should possess strong interpersonal skills, excellent analytical and technical accounting skills and have effective organizational skills. This position will interact with most department managers and will have exposure to the Joa Executive Team.
Job Responsibilities & Essential Functions of the Job: PayrollOversee the accounting for and execution of payroll related transactionsProvide support to Payroll Specialist as neededAccounts Payable / Accounts ReceivableOversee accounts payable and receivable team membersIn conjunction with the staff accountant, review all letters of creditResponsible for all ERP system configurations of payables and receivablesCash ManagementOversee the banking interface of day-to-day transactionsAccountable for oversight of Treasury Management for US operation, including all cash and investment activityMonth-End / Year-End / ReportingResponsible for the review and approval of monthly journal entries and accruals in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles.Responsible for the review and approval of financial statements, balance sheets reconciliations, and supporting documentation.Assists with the pre-audit requestsCosting and InventoryOversee Standard Cost process and all related general ledger activityOversee job costing including but not limited to:Interfaces (AP, IM & JC)Reporting (PPV, Inventory, Warranty, and R&D)Profitability Analysis (major machine, kits, and spare parts)Complete month-end and year-end analysis of manufacturing costsSupervise monthly analysis of inventory (perpetual, w-stock, and reserves)Work with sales team on sales quotesBudgetingParticipate in the annual operating budget process including the following:
Labor capacity analysis based on sales projectionAnalysis of labor and overhead ratesWork with department managers to help them create their annual budgetYear-EndEnsure year end close processes are completed in the ERP systemSupport annual financial audit process and delegate among accounting team.Responsible for key reserves and accrualsBack-up Corporate Controller as needed.Collaborate with others (including in person) to proactively develop broad-based personal knowledge, skills, and abilities towards key JOA competencies.Job Requirements: Bachelors Accounting degree requiredCertified Public Accountant (CPA) preferred but not requiredRequires 10+ years of relevant accounting experience and minimum of 5 years of supervisory experienceUnderstands and applies fundamental accounting conceptsRequires a strong knowledge of Microsoft Office Applications including Excel and WordRequires knowledge of IRS regulations for payroll taxesMust have ability to develop, write and follow proceduresAbility to effectively present information and respond to questions from other managers, external auditors, and outside regulatory agencies
