Robert Half is looking for an experienced, industrious Accounting Manager for an immediate opening at an innovative, on-the-rise Insurance company.
In this position, you will be responsible for leading daily operations such as preparing and/or reviewing appropriate ledger entries and reconciliations, maintaining the general ledger system, preparing monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements, assisting with regulatory reporting as applicable, and related duties.
You will establish and scale company accounting and finance operations.

This Accounting Manager role is a permanent employment opportunity, based in the Galveston, Texas area.
Your responsibilities in this role
- Command sufficient knowledge of enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems
- Prepare various technical accounting analyses, policies, and procedures
- Review and analyze balance sheets and income statement accounts owned by the Senior Accountant
- Play a key role in the implementation of NetSuite Financials, which includes system and process design, data migration, testing, training, and go-forward system administration
- Contribute to the preparation of GAAP financial statements through data analysis, document preparation, integrity validation, and reconciliation processes
- Team up with FP& A and accounting management to develop relevant, timely reports on financial data analytics like the monthly flash report, key financial metrics, and actual spend against budgets/outlook
- Ensure close deadlines are met by encouraging and managing the accounting team performance during the closing process
- Ability to simplify complex problems and build solutions
- Solid technology and analytical abilities
- Working knowledge of enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems is valuable
- 5+ years of recent relevant financial experience
- CPA or MBA preferred
- Technical accounting experience
- Proficiency in general ledger
- Financial reporting experience highly desired
- Journal entries experience
- Month end closings experience
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business or equivalent degree and/or experience
- Strong verbal and written communication skills with a customer service mindset
