Accounting Specialist

LaSalle Network is partnering with a holding company in the Joplin, MO area. They are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Accounting Specialist to join their team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing payroll processes, ensuring compliance with relevant laws and regulations and performing a variety of accounting tasks. This role requires strong analytical skills, attention to detail and the ability to handle confidential information with integrity. Accounting Specialist Responsibilities: Accurately process bi-weekly, semi-monthly or monthly payroll for all employees Maintain and update payroll information by collecting, calculating and entering data Resolve payroll discrepancies and respond to payroll-related inquiries from employees Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll laws and regulations Prepare and submit payroll tax filings and reports (e.g., W-2, 941, etc.) Assist with audits and provide necessary documentation and explanations Assist with accounts payable and receivable processes Perform bank reconciliations and assist with month-end closing activities Maintain accurate financial records and documentation Assist in maintaining and reconciling general ledger accounts Support the preparation of financial statements and reports Administer employee benefits programs, including health insurance, retirement plans and other benefits Coordinate with HR to ensure accurate benefits deductions and enrollments Accounting Specialist Requirements: Bachelor's degree in accounting, Finance or a related field preferred but not required 3+ years of experience in payroll processing and accounting Experience with QuickBooks Is required Demonstrated problem-solving and analytical skills are highly valued The ability to multitask effectively and collaborate with team members is crucial
