As an Accounting Technician with the Oregon Commission for the Blind, you will process payments using the Statewide Financial Management Application (SFMA), maintain vendor files, process purchase requests, maintain records around fixed and capital property, and resale inventory records. Additionally, you will serve as agency vendor coordinator, agency travel coordinator, and agency SPOTS (State P-Card of Oregon Transaction System) coordinator. This position also provides back up for payroll and vendor payments from the case management system.

What We Are Looking For
Minimum Qualifications:
Two years of experience calculating, recording, and maintaining accounting information that must include coding transactions and checking them for propriety, balancing, and resolving discrepancies in computer edits; OR
One year of experience calculating, recording, and maintaining accounting information that must include coding transactions and checking them for propriety, balancing, and resolving discrepancies in computer edits AND at least 43 quarter (29 semester) credit hours from an accredited college, university, or vocational-technical school that includes 9 quarter (6 semester) credit hours in accounting. Credit hours must include introductory level accounting courses 1 and 2**; OR
At least 94 quarter (62 semester) credit hours or an associate degree from an accredited college, university, or vocational-technical school that includes 12 quarter (8 semester) credit hours in accounting. Credit hours must include introductory level accounting courses 1 and 2 and may include any additional accounting courses with "accounting" in the title.**
Training or experience must include using a computer to enter, update, or retrieve information.
**To receive credit for required courses, you may be requested to submit a photocopy of transcripts prior to hire. Agencies may specify additional qualifications depending on the individual job requirements.
Desired Attributes:
Ability to communicate information effectively both orally and in writing.
Excellent customer service skills for both internal and external customers.
Demonstrated experience with automated accounting systems.
Ability to use a variety of other software applications and remain current with capabilities of various software applications including Microsoft: Word, Project, Teams, Excel, Access, and Outlook.
Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP.)
Ability to conduct analysis, identify problems, identify areas of improvement and evaluate information to produce recommendations for action.
